She went on to become the first black woman accredited to cover the White House. Ms. Dunnigan became the head of the Associated Negro Press Washington Bureau on Jan. 1, 1947. She spent 14 years filing stories printed in 112 African-American newspapers across the country, and broke numerous barriers along the way. Now, she will be honored with a 6-foot bronze statue at the Newseum, a museum in Washington dedicated to the press and the First Amendment. A Leeds MP has spoken of her pride at being asked to unveil a new tribute to political trailblazer Baroness Alice Bacon. As previously reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Baroness Bacon – Leeds and Yorkshire’s first female MP – has been chosen as the latest significant local figure to be recognised with a Leeds Civic Trust blue plaque. Although short of a full pardon, the decision by the president will free Alice Johnson, 63, who was sentenced in 1996 on charges related to cocaine possession and money laundering. Ms. Kardashian West visited the White House last week to lobby on Ms. Johnson’s behalf. Here's what we know about the disturbing case. What happened to baby Ah’Kiell Walker? Three-month-old baby Ah'Kiell Walker died after his parents shook and dunked him in water. The little boy was found naked and freezing cold at the family's Gloucester home. A post-mortem examination revealed that he suffered four broken ribs and a fractured shoulder in the weeks before his death. The baby's death was caused by a lack of oxygen to his brain through Walker shaking him and submerging him in water, potentially in the couple's bath. Little Ah'Kiell died at 17 weeks old on July 31, 2016. Water may also have been poured down Ah'Kiell's throat through bottles that Walker had altered to increase the flow. It is believed he was force fed water to get rid of his constipation.
