The man also had sexual intercourse with the dead body before lighting it on fire.Wallace Muhammed, 48, was found guilty of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, necrophilia, burglary and tampering with evidence, the Fulton County District Attorney's office announced in a press release on Thursday. He received life in prison without parole with an additional 40 years behind bars.Muhammed broke into 60-year-old Linda Jarrard’s motel room on April 13, 2013, at the Town and Country Motel on Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta, where Jarrad had been living. Authorities say a wrecker driver in the area noticed the car parked in some brush along Falls Street around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Thinking the vehicle was stolen, the wrecker driver went to check it out and discovered the woman's body in the back seat. The discovery was made near Sandy Hook and Binghamton Drive early Friday morning. The man who found the woman called 911. A dispatcher instructed him to check for a pulse, but the woman was reportedly cold to the touch. There's no word on how she may have died. She's said to be in her mid-30s. Rape Law Bans Sex With Dead Bodies, Wisconsin Supreme Court Says
Reversing lower court judges who said Wisconsin criminal law doesn’t prohibit necrophilia, the state supreme court held today that rape law bans sex with dead bodies.Because rape law prohibits sex with an unconsenting victim, “a reasonably well-informed person would understand the statute to prohibit sexual intercourse with a dead person,” writes Justice Patience Drake Roggensack in the 5-2 majority opinion (PDF).Two dissenting justices said the law was intended not to ban necrophilia but to permit rape charges when the victim was also murdered, according to the Associated Press.The case arose from an alleged attempt by three young men carrying shovels, a crowbar and condoms to dig up a corpse in a Wisconsin cemetery in 2006 after one saw an obituary photo of an attractive 20-year-old woman who had been killed in a motorcycle accident a week earlier.
