A MYSTERY phone call is one the latest twists that could free one of the world’s most talked about convicted murderers. Steven Avery is the centre of Netflix’s Making A Murderer as it gears up to show his fight for freedom in the next chapter of the gripping tale. Avery was convicted of the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach in 2007 and was sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole. The trailer released today introduces a tough lawyer Kathleen Zellner who has overturned more wrongful convictions than any private attorney in the US. It's been nearly three years since viewers met Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey on Netflix's hit true crime show, "Making a Murderer," and the series is coming back for a second season in October. Netflix announced on Tuesday that the show will premiere on Oct. 19 with 10 new episodes. The first season focused on Avery, who spent 18 years in prison for a rape before he was exonerated by DNA testing. After he was released, he filed a civil suit over his conviction, but in 2005, he and his nephew, Dassey, were arrested for and convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. A sequel to the popular "Making a Murderer" documentary series is set to premiere Oct. 19 on Netflix. The first "Making a Murderer" recounted the story of Steven Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, who were convicted in the 2005 slaying of Wisconsin photographer Teresa Halbach. Avery and Dassey are serving life sentences in that killing. Halbach's remains were found in the Avery family's Manitowoc County salvage yard. Avery insists police framed him. (AP) — Police are responding to a report of an active shooter at a commercial building in a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin.The Dane County dispatch center said shots were fired Wednesday morning at a building that houses Esker Software and WTS Paradigm in Middleton. Police and multiple ambulances have responded.Dane County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer confirmed there was an "active shooter situation" and said her office is assisting Middleton police.
