Wednesday was a whirlwind of media interviews for 15-year-old Brynn Cartelli, who was crowned the winner of NBC’s “The Voice” on Tuesday night. “It’s really crazy and unreal,” the Longmeadow native said in a phone call with Boston.com Wednesday evening. Cartelli’s schedule doesn’t seem like it will slow down soon, either. The teenager will return to Massachusetts on Saturday, then go back to finish her freshman year at Longmeadow High School. Oh, and she has an album to work on now that she’s won a recording contract, her prize as youngest-ever champion of the reality singing competition. Cartelli hasn’t wasted any time planning those new tracks with her “Voice” coach and Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Clarkson. In fact, Cartelli received a text message from Clarkson about her album while she was on the phone with Boston.com. “Kelly and I are talking about this right now,” Cartelli said, after … [Read more...] about 15-year-old Brynn Cartelli talks winning ‘The Voice,’ and what she’s missed about Massachusetts

On Monday night’s episode of “The Voice,” the first of a two-part finale, Longmeadow 15-year-old Brynn Cartelli and the three other remaining finalists — Kyla Jade, Spensha Baker, and Britton Buchanan — each performed three songs: a cover, a duet with his or her respective coach, and a new original single. “This is the kind of song that you would hear on the radio,” Cartelli said during a taped portion of the NBC singing competition before she debuted the original “Walk My Way.” “Doing a song that’s sassy, but kind of has that little flair to it, it’s very me.” “You’re so amazing,” said Adam Levine, a coach on the show, after Cartelli’s performance. “And just to see the poise and the grace and elegance throughout this entire thing that you’ve managed to kind of maintain, not losing your head, being great every night, is so impressive for a 30-year-old, and the fact … [Read more...] about Watch Mass. teen Brynn Cartelli perform three songs — including an original — for the ‘The Voice’ finale
To the surprise of very few fans of NBC's "The Voice," Chloe Kohanski was crowned the winner of Season 13 on Tuesday night. Not only did the 23-year-old psychedelic rocker from Nashville dominate the iTunes charts with her performances after almost every episode, but the celebrity coaches deemed her a front-runner the first time they heard her sing."I think that you can be in the finale," Blake Shelton declared at Kohanski's blind audition in October, when she wowed everyone with Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain." Indeed, she went on to triumph over the other acts in the final four, which included teenage folk prodigy Addison Agen, pop-soul powerhouse Brooke Simpson and country crooner Red Marlow. Kohanski, who previously worked at a coffee shop as she embarked on a solo career, now has a recording contract with Universal Music Group. However, things almost went very differently -- because Kohanski could have been eliminated early on when she was dropped by her coach, Miley Cyrus, during the … [Read more...] about ‘The Voice’ finale: How Chloe Kohanski won despite a big mistake by Miley Cyrus
Tonight is the night: The winner of season 14 of The Voice will finally be revealed. After months of fierce competition, only four contestants remain. On Monday, the final four — Brynn Cartelli, Kyla Jade, Spensha Baker and Britton Buchanan — sang for the coveted title of this season's best voice. Each finalist performed a cover song as a duet with their coach, and then each debuted an original single. Monday's show made it clear that these artists can sing. What's not as clear is which singer is THE one who'll win the title, the money and a record deal. Sure, there are some people who love Alicia Keys, so they probably voted for Buchanan. For Kelly Clarkson fans, Cartelli seems like a no-brainer. But, what about team Blake Shelton? He has two ladies fighting for the top spot, so his fan base could have split results.
