World The Queen of England has been hit “extremely hard” by the loss of her 15-year-old corgi Willow, the last of a long line of dogs she had from the breed. The dog is said to have been suffering from a cancer-related illness and was euthanized on Sunday at Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth II's home 40 kilometers west of London. Queen Elizabeth II has a long history with corgis, which dates back more than eight decades. Willow was the 14th generation of the breed which descended from the Queen’s first dog, Susan. According to the Daily Telegraph, the Queen made the decision to euthanize Willow because she did not want the dog to suffer any longer. Dressed in a pale blue cardigan, open-necked blouse and tweed skirt, the monarch looked relaxed as she spent some off-duty downtime at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Amid the sunshine, the Queen sat in the shelter of a wooden structure watching the proceedings on the first day of the annual showjumping competition. She was seen holding a pink rosette after one of her horses finished fifth. The five-day equestrian event, which runs until May 13, is located in the private grounds of the castle.
