A pregnant woman who works at Hooters has recounted some of the inappropriate comments customers have made about her pregnancy . The Hooters employee, who goes by the username @noodledoot on TikTok , shared some of the comments she has gotten in a video posted to the platform last week, in which she offered a sarcastic “rating” for each of the remarks. In the clip, in which she noted she would be “rating things people at Hooters have said to me while pregnant,” she began by revealing that she’d been asked if she and the father of her child were still together, which she gave a three out of 10 rating. According to the TikToker, she was also told by a customer that “pregnant women are just so sexy” to them, a comment she noted “was not the worst but certainly not comfortable”. However, she gave it a negative one rating. In the video, the woman then claimed that customers also attempt to jokingly ask her how she got pregnant, which she noted is “not funny” and … [Read more...] about Pregnant woman shares comments she has received from customers while working at Hooters: ‘Couldn’t imagine’

Running an abortion clinic while waiting for court decision
The people who run America’s abortion clinics agree: There’s no job like it. There are the clients -- so many of them desperate, in need, grateful. There are the abortion opponents -- passionate, relentless, often furious. And hovering over it all are legal challenges, and the awareness that your clinic may be just a judicial ruling away from extinction. That reality became more urgent last week with a leaked, draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court suggesting a majority of justices support overturning the 1973 Roe vs Wade decision legalizing abortion. If that happens it could spell the end of abortion in about half the states. The Associated Press talked with three women and one man who run abortion clinics in such states about their work. Some came to the work through personal brushes with abortion; for others it started as a job. For all, it has become a calling. ___ Recommended Monkeypox: British tourist tested for virus Boris … [Read more...] about Running an abortion clinic while waiting for court decision
Passenger who landed plane says “hand of God” was with him
A Florida man with no flying experience who kept his cool while landing a small plane says “the hand of God” was with him after the pilot collapsed at the controls. Darren Harrison told NBC 's “Today" show that he was relaxing with his feet up in the back of the single-engine Cessna after a fishing trip in the Bahamas when the pilot told him and another passenger: “Guys, I gotta tell you I don’t feel good." “He said, ‘I've got a headache and I’m fuzzy and I just don’t feel right," the 39-year-old flooring salesman said. “And I said, ‘What do we need to do?' and at that point he didn’t respond at all." Harrison climbed into the cockpit and saw that the plane was diving, and fast. “All I saw when I came up to the front was water out the right window and I knew it was coming quick. At that point I knew if I didn’t react, that we would die." FDA warns avocado in water hack may cause salmonella and listeria poisoning
A hack that claims to keep your avocados from turning brown by submerging them in water has been making the rounds online. Now, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come out against the freshness hack, as it may cause salmonella poisoning. Avocados are perhaps infamous for turning brown in what seems only a matter of days after buying them at the grocery store. However, a hack that’s gained millions of views on TikTok has viewers submerging their avocados in water, refrigerating them in a jar for up to three weeks, and cutting them open to reveal a ripe, green shade. In one TikTok, which has more than six million views, user @shamamamahealing opens her jar of avocados in water, which have been stored in her fridge for over two weeks. As she cuts down the middle of the avocado surface, the inside of the fruit appears as fresh as a new avocado. While there’s been conflicting reports on just how well the hack preserves an avocado’s taste, the FDA warns … [Read more...] about FDA warns avocado in water hack may cause salmonella and listeria poisoning
‘The Guy With the Gun Is Now Running Hong Kong’
Counting the votes cast in Hong Kong’s chief-executive election this month took just 23 minutes. There was no hyperefficient voting technology or army of poll workers. The speed was due instead to the paltry number of ballots: Only 1,461 needed to be tabulated, and they listed just one candidate. So with a vote share that would make a dictator grin (99.2 percent), John Lee became the fifth person selected to lead the city in the postcolonial era. Lee takes office this summer, when Hong Kong will mark 25 years under Chinese rule, the halfway point of the “one country, two systems” experiment that was meant to grant the city a high degree of autonomy, a moment rumored to be marked with a visit from President Xi Jinping. Lee’s elevation is reflective of the distrust and paranoia that has flourished in Beijing and among Hong Kong’s political elites since the 2019 prodemocracy protests , which he helped both trigger and eventually put down. The foreign connections that have been one … [Read more...] about ‘The Guy With the Gun Is Now Running Hong Kong’
