Amber Heard’s rep says truth “not on Johnny Depp’s side” as trial resumes
Amber Heard's spokesperson has said that "truth is not on [Johnny] Depp's side," ahead of the former couple returning to court for their defamation trial . All eyes have been on the Hollywood stars amid their trial, after Depp, 58, sued Heard, 36, for $50 million after she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 stating that she was a survivor of domestic abuse. Depp was never mentioned by name, but his legal team argue that the insinuation has caused a sullied reputation and a huge loss of earnings for the actor. Heard has made a counterclaim against Depp for $100 million. In the hours leading up to their return to Virginia's Fairfax County Circuit Court on Monday, a spokesperson for Heard told Newsweek they're anticipating Depp's team will put on a courtroom display that's "equal parts shameful and desperate." "There's an old saying by trial lawyers: when the facts are on your side, argue the facts. When the facts are not on your side, pound away on the podium," … [Read more...] about Amber Heard’s rep says truth “not on Johnny Depp’s side” as trial resumes
Court has upheld truths and facts, says Mahant
Ramjanmaboomi Nyas president Mahant Nitya Gopal Dass has expressed happiness over the Allahabad High Court's verdict in the Ayodhya case, saying the court “has upheld truths and facts.” However, he added that this was a victory neither for Hindus nor Muslims; it is the “victory of Ram Lalla.” The Mahant said both sides were now expected to approach the Supreme Court. “We will say that the entire land belongs to Ram Lalla,” he said, pointing to the order assigning one-third of the land to the Waqf Board. Asked whether the Ramjanmaboomi Nyas would now move in to build a temple, he said: “No, let the Supreme Court decision come first.” The court order established the basis of their assertions. “Our Muslim brothers have time and again said they will accept the court decision.” Asked whether the matter could now be resolved through dialogue, he said: “We are open to talks in a cordial atmosphere.” … [Read more...] about Court has upheld truths and facts, says Mahant
Alito says overturning Roe gives women a voice on abortion. In the South, it’s not that simple.
In his leaked draft Supreme Court opinion, Justice Samuel Alito argues that overturning Roe v. Wade would allow “women on both sides of the abortion issue to seek to affect the legislative process.” If women in a post-Roe era don’t like state laws that restrict abortion access, or laws that preserve the right to have an abortion, Alito envisions a world in which they can step up and change them. Women can vote, he pointed out, and often do so in higher numbers than men. They can lobby and run for office. But advocates for voting access and civil rights say that Alito’s depiction does not account for the parts of the country, particularly in the South, where laws make it harder for the poor and voters of color to cast their ballots, and where racially polarized voting can make it more difficult for abortion rights candidates to gain ground. How states will proceed if Roe v. Wade is overturned May 3, 2022 02:35 Southern states … [Read more...] about Alito says overturning Roe gives women a voice on abortion. Fox execs say ‘absolutely no regrets’ in casting Rudy Giuliani on ‘The Masked Singer’
Fox execs finally addressed the controversy surrounding Rudy Giuliani being cast on “The Masked Singer,” and according to Rob Wade, the president of alternative entertainment & specials at Fox Entertainment, the company has “no regrets.” The network brass was asked about Giuliani’s casting on Monday morning during a conference call announcing the network’s new fall lineup. “Yeah, absolutely no regrets,” Wade said. “The marketing is all about delivering jaw dropping moments, which is exactly what the casting accomplished. And whether it was on set or with the viewers at home I suppose my only regret or surprise was obviously the reveal was spoiled [by the press], but kudos to you guys. Just please don’t do it again. Thanks a lot.” On this season’s episode 7, which aired April 20, the disgraced former attorney showed up, sang an off-key and off-putting version of “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers and then was unmasked as the Jack in the Box. Nolte: Chris Rock Says ‘Believe All Women… Except Amber Heard’
Comedian Chris Rock took aim at the #MeToo fascists by ridiculing Amber Heard’s alleged bed-shitting incident. “Believe all women, believe all women… except Amber Heard,” Rock said during a comedy show in London last week. What the fuck is she on? She shit in his bed! She’s fine, but she’s not shitting fine. She shit in his bed. Once you shit in someone’s bed, you just guilty of everything… What the fuck is going on there? Wow. And they had a relationship after that. It must be amazing pussy… I’ve been with some crazy bitches but, Goddammit. Rock is referring to April 28 testimony by Starling Jenkins III, Johnny Depp’s one-time chauffeur. Depp filed a $50 million defamation suit against Heard, his ex-wife, over claims he physically abused her. The trial launched on April 11, and one of the key moments was Jenkins’s testimony that in 2016 Heard told him about a “surprise” she left on Depp’s side of the bed after one of their fights.
