Kerala Man Razes Down Neighbour’s Shop with JCB for ‘Stalling’ his Marriage Proposals
Kannur: In what would look like an out-of-the-movie scene, a young man from Kerala’s Kannur razed down his neighbour’s grocery shop using an earth mover. The young man was disgruntled with his neighbour as he stalled his wedding plans. Tired of his complaints not being taken note of by the authorities, 30-year-old Albin Mathew decided to take the matters in his own hands. In a fit of fury, the young man did exactly what was shown in the recent Malayalam blockbuster Ayyappanum Koshiyum starring Prithviraj and Biju Menon. The movie shows the protagonist razing down a half-done yet occupied home of his rival in the dead of the night, something similar that Mathew did to his neighbour Soji. According to the people living around, despite the two of them being neighbours, they have not been on good terms. They were the ones who pointed out the chances of his wrath over the said allegation. However, Soji rubbished the allegation. Albin shared a video on social media where he … [Read more...] about Kerala Man Razes Down Neighbour’s Shop with JCB for ‘Stalling’ his Marriage Proposals
Did legendary poet Lord Byron have anorexia?
Lord Byron, the 18th-century, Romantic era poet, was known as much for his flamboyant affairs, as he was for his literary genius. However, it is only in the past decade, that details of his health — his eating disorder, anorexia, in particular — are being talked about. This is what acclaimed British author Antony Peattie has been researching for the past 14 years. The result is a book, The Private Life of Lord Byron , set to be published soon. On his India tour, he narrated what he learnt about Lord Bryon’s past that may have led to him developing the disorder. Edited excerpts: What did you discover about Lord Byron’s condition of anorexia? 1873 was when anorexia was first recognised by the medical profession, 49 years after Byron’s death. His own condition was diagnosed retrospectively in 1982. But going through his correspondences and biographies now suggests that he was severely anorexic. His Italian lover, countess Teresa Guiccioli (who was with him during the period that … [Read more...] about Did legendary poet Lord Byron have anorexia?

Park bench dedicated to man who used to sit and shout at seagulls to ‘f**k off’
A unique but rather rude park bench memorial created a stir after being dedicated to a man who would sit and shout at seagulls to 'f**k off' as they swooped above. The memorial plaque read: "In loving memory of Huw Davies, Used to sit here and shout, F**k off! at the seagulls." History professor James Vaughan, who took the photo of the bench, said that he was having a stroll through the park with his family when he found the bench, and Tweeted: "By some distance the best park bench memorial I've ever encountered." But jobsworth council staff James have since torn the plaque down. The park bench can be found in Wales, on the grounds of Aberystwyth castle overlooking the town's South Beach. The plaque has since been torn down ( Image: James Vaughan/MEDIA WALES) The post has received over 147,000 likes on Twitter so far, and some users have found the funny side of the park bench, with one writing: "This is the kind of legacy I hope to leave behind too". Internet praises man for turning life around by lying on CV to get $65k job
A highly successful salesman has taken to social media to detail why, when it comes to job applications, honesty may not necessarily be the best policy. In a post upvoted over 12,000 times on Reddit , he detailed how he went from "depressed and suicidal" after years of being broke to earning a hefty $65,000 a year. The secret to his apparent success? He lied on his resume . A lot. He wouldn't be the first applicant to do that of course. In fact, a survey conducted by reference checking company Checkster found as many as 78 percent of candidates quizzed admitted they did or would consider misrepresenting themselves in a job application . This particular candidate went a little further though and while his methods may have been on the risky side, many online applauded his approach. Writing under the handle CherishBean, the man explained that while he was "always great at talking with others" and coming off as "charismatic, smart, and helpful" in the workplace, he led a … [Read more...] about Internet praises man for turning life around by lying on CV to get $65k job
Story of a Whatsapp Group ‘It’s Coming Home’ and Those Few Good Men
For the past 22 years, the loyal supporters of the England football team have been crooning to “It’s Coming Home’, first penned to celebrate the hosting of Euro’96 and then it became a song of eternal hope. IPL 2022 – FULL COVERAGE | SCHEDULE | RESULTS | ORANGE CAP | PURPLE CAP | POINTS TABLE Hope that a Gary Linekar would one day win it. It never happened. Then they thought if not a Paul Gascoigne, a David Beckham or a Michael Owen or a Harry Kane would do it. Alas, it remained a song and never became an anthem. But who would have known that a bunch of Indian upstarts, daring to dream big would make that song their own? And thus a WhatsApp group of 10 Indian badminton players was formed and the group admin named it ‘It’s Coming Home’. And the force behind it was Indian badminton’s eternal comeback man HS Prannoy, whose acts of ‘Escape to Victory’ against Malaysia and Denmark would now be a part of Indian sporting folklore. Defendant testifies he falsely confessed to killing teacher
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 2 OCILLA, Ga. (AP) — The man standing trial in the killing of a Georgia high school teacher who vanished in 2005 took the witness stand Tuesday and testified that he gave a false confession to investigators. Ryan Duke faces an automatic sentence of life in prison if he's convicted of murdering Tara Grinstead, whose disappearance from her rural Georgia home remained a mystery for more than a decade until Duke and another man were arrested in 2017. Asked in front of the jury Tuesday by defense attorney Evan Gibbs if he had murdered Grinstead, Duke replied: “I did not.” Duke's testimony in Irwin County Superior Court directly contradicts his recorded statements to Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents five years ago, when Duke said he broke into Grinstead's house to steal money for drugs and fatally struck her when she startled him. “I was stealing from her purse and she snuck up on me," … [Read more...] about Defendant testifies he falsely confessed to killing teacher
Self-made billionaires Mark Cuban and Charlie Ergen share jabs, startup stories at Denver Startup Week
If Dish Network co-founder Charlie Ergen could turn back time and give his much-younger self advice, he would tell himself to use sandbags to stabilize a trailer that delivered the first giant satellite dish to a Pagosa Springs customer in 1980. But had he done that, Ergen wouldn’t have one of the better stories of any entrepreneur to share with Denver Startup Week attendees Tuesday night when Ergen made a rare public appearance alongside Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Boulder venture capitalist Brad Feld. “It was about 4 a.m. near Walsenburg, and there was a gust of wind and I did, in fact, say, ‘Oh, (poop)!’ because the dish went into the median. We only had two dishes. I lost half the assets of the company,” said Ergen, CEO of the Douglas County satellite TV service. “It was almost the first day of the company, and honest to God, that (starting up) was the hardest part of the business. I found at the time that I had partners who would live with me even though I nearly … [Read more...] about Self-made billionaires Mark Cuban and Charlie Ergen share jabs, startup stories at Denver Startup Week
