Author and neuroscientist Sam Harris raised eyebrows on Twitter on Thursday over comments he made about Hunter Biden , saying that his alleged laptop controversy was less significant than the potential damage Donald Trump could do to "democracy." "Hunter Biden literally could have had the corpses of children in his basement, I would not have cared," Harris told Trigger Pod hosts Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster in a video clip that has been viewed online over 2.1 million times on Twitter . President Joe Biden 's son has been a repeated source of controversy , beginning with a New York Post story published just prior to the 2020 election that publicized emails allegedly showing Hunter Biden arranging a meeting between a Ukrainian business associate and his father in April 2015, and urging Biden's "influence" in May 2014. The report garnered even more attention when both Facebook and Twitter restricted the reach of the post on their social media networks. … [Read more...] about Who is Sam Harris? Mum who ‘sold seven-year-old son had advertised him on human organ transplant sites’
A mum who attempted to sell her infant son for £4,000 had advertised him on human organ transplant sites. Nargiza Aitmatova, 36, was detained in a sting operation in Russia after posting social media notices saying she wanted to sell her boy for cash to body part traders. Sick Aitmatova took the young lad to a meeting at a shopping mall in Yekaterinburg with undercover cops posing as potential buyers who were responding to her advertisement. Sources say during the chat she handed over the child’s documents including a medical card, insurance policy, birth certificate and migration card. They added: “She was asked several times if she knew exactly what she was doing, if she understood that she would never see her son again, because those who ‘buy’ him do not want her to have any contact with him. The young boy was taken to the mall to be sold by his mum ( Image: Alternativa/EAST2WEST NEWS) The boy was advertised for sale on a human organ transplant site ( … [Read more...] about Mum who ‘sold seven-year-old son had advertised him on human organ transplant sites’
Ardh Trailer: Rubina Dilaik Might Remind Fans of Choti Bahu, But Rajpal Yadav Takes Away All Limelight
On Wednesday, Rubina Dilaik took to social media and dropped the trailer of her OTT debut titled Ardh. It begins with the introduction of Rajpal Yadav’s character, Shiva who is struggling to become an actor in the city of dreams, Mumbai despite being a great theatre actor. Therefore, to survive in the city and earn his bread and butter, he pretends to be a transgender. The trailer then introduces Rubina Dilaik as Rajpal Yadav’s wife who is also supportive of her husband’s decision to live as a transgender. As Shiva continues to work hard to become an actor, the trailer depicts the struggles he and his family face. The decision to present Rajpal Yadav as a transgender (to earn his living) is a new concept and looks interesting. On the other hand, Rubina’s simplicity will surely stun all and might remind her fans of her 2008 show Choti Bahu. It should also be noted how the trailer does not end with a ‘happy ending’, leaving fans curious and excited. Avoid impulsive decisions and persuade others who are involved not to jump in without considering the consequences. Puerto Rico governor publicly criticizes private company over power outages
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Puerto Rico’s governor on Thursday denounced the private company his administration contracted to take over the island’s power transmission and distribution system amid a recent spike in electricity outages that have outraged many in the U.S. territory. It is the first time Gov. Pedro Pierluisi has publicly criticized Luma Energy — a consortium made up of Calgary, Alberta-based Atco and Quanta Services Inc. of Houston — despite street protests and calls on social media for Pierluisi to cancel Luma’s 15-year contract that began in June 2021. “I am not satisfied with the performance of Luma,” said Pierluisi, who previously had defended and praised the company. “It is obvious to me that you have to make changes to your execution plan to significantly improve the service you are offering our people.” Luma spokesman Eliezer Soto said the company would hold a press conference later to talk about the ongoing outages. Luma’s roughly 1.5 million clients … [Read more...] about Puerto Rico governor publicly criticizes private company over power outages
Panel Provides New Evidence That G.O.P. Members of Congress Sought Pardons
At least half a dozen Republican members of Congress sought pre-emptive pardons from President Donald J. Trump as he fought to remain in office after his defeat in the 2020 election, witnesses have told the House Jan. 6 committee, the panel disclosed on Thursday. Mr. Trump “had hinted at a blanket pardon for the Jan. 6 thing for anybody,” Mr. Trump’s former head of presidential personnel, Johnny McEntee, testified. Representative Matt Gaetz, Republican of Florida, appeared to ask for a broad pardon, not limited to his role in Mr. Trump’s effort to reverse the outcome of the election. Mr. Gaetz even invoked the pardoned former President Richard M. Nixon as he did so, Eric Herschmann, a White House lawyer for Mr. Trump, testified. “He mentioned Nixon, and I said, ‘Nixon’s pardon was never nearly that broad,’” Mr. Herschmann recounted. Representative Mo Brooks of Alabama sent an email seeking a pre-emptive pardon for all 147 members of Congress who objected to the … [Read more...] about Panel Provides New Evidence That G.O.P. Panel Ties Trump to Fake Elector Plan, Mapping His Attack on Democracy
WASHINGTON — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack directly tied Donald J. Trump on Tuesday to a scheme to put forward fake slates of pro-Trump electors and presented fresh details on how the former president sought to bully, cajole and bluff his way into invalidating his 2020 defeat in states around the country. Using sworn in-person testimony from Republicans and videotaped depositions from other officials, the panel showed how the former president and a group of allies laid siege to state lawmakers and election officials after the balloting in a wide-ranging plot to reverse the outcome. The campaign led to harassment and threats of violence against anyone who resisted. The hearing on Tuesday amounted to the most comprehensive picture to date of a president who directed an attack on democracy itself and repeatedly reached into its essential machinery — the administration of free and fair elections. It was the committee’s fourth hearing, and it captured … [Read more...] about Panel Ties Trump to Fake Elector Plan, Mapping His Attack on Democracy

PHOTOS: Man Creates Benches for People to Rest at Bus Stops
James Warren regularly takes the bus in Denver, Colorado, but after noticing something was missing at multiple stops, he took action. The problem was those stops did not have anywhere for people to sit and wait for the bus to arrive, the Washington Post reported Thursday. Earlier this year, Warren saw a woman waiting for a bus but because there was nowhere to rest she was sitting on the ground. “For people to have to sit in the dirt while they’re waiting for a bus is just undignified,” said the young man, who works with the Colorado Workforce Development Council. According to the council’s website, his role was to create a career navigation program for workforce centers while also administering grants to nonprofit organizations. To remedy the seating problem, he decided to make a bench with pieces of scrap wood. There were thousands of bus stops in Denver, but Warren still set his mind on the project. After building his first bench, he put together seven more. … [Read more...] about PHOTOS: Man Creates Benches for People to Rest at Bus Stops
