Charles Camosy, The Washington Post Published 9:42 am PST, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 The March for Life is a miracle. There is no other annual event of that size in the nation's capital with that kind of sustained energy; the massive pro-life rally has been going on every January for more than 40 years. But maybe the biggest part of the miracle has to do with the near-total lack of huge-name promoters, as the anti-abortion movement continues to be the third rail for American celebs. That's about to change. In a few weeks, the March will be keynoted by a genuine superstar: Ben Shapiro. The 34-year-old Orthodox Jew from Southern California hosts the most popular conservative podcast in the country. A pre-election special he did this fall was one of the most-watched shows on cable TV the day it aired. His "Daily Wire" opinion-news website boasts 140 million page-views per month. Many in the antiaborion movement, of which I am passionately a part, will consider the Harvard … [Read more...] about Having Ben Shapiro headline the ‘March for Life’ is a huge mistake

PRESIDENT Donald Trump has reportedly expressed fears about being impeached, a source has told CNN. Escalating criminal investigations in Washington and New York are probing not only whether his campaign coordinated with the Kremlin, but also whether he illegally bought the silence of two women who say they had sex with him, including porn star Stormy Daniels. CNN reported yesterday that Trump is concerned he could be impeached when the Democrats take over the House, with the broadcaster quoting an unnamed source “close” to him saying the president fears impeachment is a “real possibility”. Some Democrats who will take the House majority in January are willing to say that President Donald Trump may have committed impeachable offences, according to the Associated Press. But that doesn't mean they will try to impeach him – yet. AP says that Democrats have been extremely cautious about the "I'' word. They realise it could backfire politically, as many of them … [Read more...] about Donald Trump fears impeachment is a ‘real possibility’ over Stormy Daniels hush payments as Democrats plot to topple him after taking over the House
PRESSURE is mounting on Theresa May as the PM desperately scrambles to make her EU deal more palatable. After cancelling her crunch Brexit vote, fears are growing that she could be kicked out of Downing Street. Here's how that might happen. What is a vote of no confidence? There are two kinds, both of which Theresa May will be desperate to avoid. A motion of no confidence is moved in the House of Commons with the wording "that this House has no confidence in HM Government". The backing of a majority of MPs would topple the Government. If a new Government with the support of the Commons cannot be formed within 14 days, an early General Election is called. Labour Brexit spokesman Sir Keir Starmer had said that the party would try to force a no confidence vote if Theresa May fails to win a crunch vote in the Commons on December 11. It is one of only two ways in which an early General Election may be triggered under the terms of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act 2011. But the … [Read more...] about What is a vote of no confidence, could Theresa May face a leadership challenge and how many MPs have demanded one?
0 Have your say The US midterm election has become a referendum on Donald Trump and his first two years in office, writes former First Minister Henry McLeish in San Antonio, Texas. The US is experiencing the most turbulent, poisonous and partisan politics since I first started visiting the country nearly 40 years ago. With a week to go before the midterm elections, the future composition of the House of Representatives and Senate is inextricably linked to the fortunes of President Donald J Trump in a battle of two Americas. From my vantage point in San Antonio, Texas, where there is a remarkable struggle between veteran Republican Ted Kruz and his charismatic, Bobby Kennedy-like Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke, the US has never looked so divided, so devoured by intolerance and so lacking in political respect for competing ideas and values. It is like Brexit – but much worse! Trump’s successful exploitation of identity politics and … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s US midterms strategy is a masterstroke – Henry McLeish
A SCHOOLGIRL is believed to have died after taking a "controlled substance" today - as cops arrest two teenage boys. The girl, 14, collapsed in the Wirral at around 1.45pm today and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of supplying or offering to supply an unspecified controlled drug and an 18-year-old is being held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs. A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death but cops believe she died after taking controlled drugs. Police have now issued a warning to parents to be vigilant of their children. Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: "This is a terribly tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a 14 year-old girl. "We want people to think carefully before they consider taking drugs - it is not only illegal to buy and sell drugs, but taking illegal substances can also be very dangerous and potentially fatal. "People taking these … [Read more...] about Girl, 14, dies after ‘taking controlled substance’ in the Wirral as two teen boys arrested
