Defending champion Lightning’s bid for 3-peat falls short
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 23 TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Lightning didn’t relinquish their grip on the Stanley Cup without a fight. Andrei Vasilevskiy rejected shot after shot, keeping the two-time defending champions’ quest for a threepeat alive. In the end, another superb performance by the star goaltender wasn’t enough to keep the Colorado Avalanche from wresting the title away. “It definitely stings," defenseman Ryan MacDonagh said. The Lightning were 3-0 when facing possible elimination before Sunday night’s 2-1 loss in Game 6 stopped their bid to become the first team to win three consecutive Stanley Cup championships since the New York Islanders captured four in a row from 1980-83. Steven Stamkos got them off to a fast start, scoring from in front of Darcy Kuemper less than … [Read more...] about Defending champion Lightning’s bid for 3-peat falls short

This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 26 ELMAU, Germany (AP) — Leading economic powers conferred by video link with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday as they underscored their commitment to Ukraine for “as long as it takes” with plans to pursue a price cap on Russian oil, raise tariffs on Russian goods and impose other new sanctions. In addition, the U.S. was preparing to announce the purchase of an advanced surface-to-air missile system for Kyiv to help Ukraine fight back against Vladimir Putin’s aggression. The new aid and efforts by the Group of Seven leaders to punish Moscow come as Zelenskyy has openly worried that the West has become fatigued by the cost of a war that is contributing to soaring energy costs and price hikes on essential goods around the globe. Webcamming: The sex work revolution that no one is willing to talk about
The development of the internet has completely transformed the way we do business; and the “oldest profession” is no exception. In a world of online chatrooms, webcam performers can market anything from conversation to explicit sex acts. And unlike pornography or prostitution, there are virtually no laws regulating this form of sex work. Webcamming is an easy market to enter. All it takes is a computer, a decent webcam, access to a high-speed internet connection and a webcam hosting site. The hours are flexible, the working environment is safe and the salary can be very rewarding. The majority of performers are women, but there are also male and transgender performers. On sites such as Chaturbate and MyFreeCams, a tipping system operates in public chatrooms. Here, payment is voluntary, and performers are tipped for performing sexual and non-sexual acts. This makes a show profitable for the performer, at a relatively low cost to the viewer. Recommended Mother … [Read more...] about Webcamming: The sex work revolution that no one is willing to talk about
I was a stripper long before OnlyFans. Sex workers today need to be honest about the industry
A few years ago, when I saw a mom of my eight-year-old son’s friend at the grocery store, she asked, “I saw your yoga pose photo on Facebook. You’re so flexible…Were you a dancer?” Shame surged through me — I never know what to say. “Kind of,” I replied, with a shrug. I wanted to answer the question honestly, but correctly. I don’t like to be misleading. Yes, I was a dancer. Just not the kind of dancer she was thinking. She had images in mind of a ballerina in a tutu, but for anybody who knows my past, that’s not the kind of costume I wore. Recommended Why is OnlyFans banning explicit content? As OnlyFans bans ‘sexually-explicit content’, what else is on there? With a ban on explicit content, OnlyFans is setting itself up to fail I never know how someone will react to me having made money by taking my clothes off, so it’s better never to go into the specifics. I started stripping when I was 18 years old. As an actress, I … [Read more...] about I was a stripper long before OnlyFans. Sex workers today need to be honest about the industry
Donald Trump backs surefire primary candidates in bid to boost success rate
Donald Trump has given an 11th-hour endorsement to a host of sitting members of Congress on the eve of the next round of Republican primaries. The former president backed candidates hoping to win their respective elections in Utah, Oklahoma and Illinois on Tuesday. While the apparent influence of a Trump endorsement has been the focal point in some GOP primaries, such as J.D. Vance's victory in the GOP Senate primary in Ohio or Mehmet Oz's eventual win in the Pennsylvania Senate primary, the latest batch of endorsements from the current president pose almost next to no risk. As with a large majority of Trump's endorsed candidates in primaries across the country, the former president has backed incumbents, who very rarely lose midterm elections, never mind party primaries. The lateness of the announcements may suggest Trump is attempting to boost the figures on his apparent knack for picking eventual winners in GOP primaries following a recent bout of losses in Georgia . … [Read more...] about Donald Trump backs surefire primary candidates in bid to boost success rate
House Republicans’ defense strategy for impeachment hearings reveals flaws: Analysis
House Republicans have geared up for the first public impeachment hearings in the Ukraine scandal, set to take place this week, by having GOP staffers send a memo to lawmakers that outlines the strategy to best defend President Donald Trump. But flaws remain within their arguments, which fail to address some of the damning allegations that Democrats will focus their questions on. The 18-page document details four main points of evidence that Republicans believe "are fatal to the Democrats' allegations" that Trump made an effort to force his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate Democrats and 2016 election interference by withholding foreign military aid. "The July 25 call summary—the best evidence of the conversation—shows no conditionality or evidence of pressure." "President Zelensky and President Trump have both said there was no pressure on the call." In his now-infamous call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Trump said he "would like you to do us a favor, … [Read more...] about House Republicans’ defense strategy for impeachment hearings reveals flaws: Analysis
Joe Biden clashes with progressives over Supreme Court expansion
The Supreme Court 's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade on Friday has prompted calls to reform the nation's highest court to ensure that its decisions are fair and balanced. Some Democrats favor expanding the number of seats in the court to restore what many Americans say is a loss of legitimacy. Although the court currently has a conservative majority of 6-3, President Joe Biden has said that he doesn't support the expansion of the number of judges. There's no legal requirement for the Supreme Court to be composed of nine justices and the size of the institution isn't specified in the U.S. Constitution. So, while the number of judges has been fixed for the past 150 years, it's not formally bound to stay that way. Historically, there has been a minimum of six justices and a maximum of 10. Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington called for the expansion of the Supreme Court on Twitter on Sunday. Her post was re-shared by over 2,000 people, including Dem. Rep. … [Read more...] about Joe Biden clashes with progressives over Supreme Court expansion
