The fire has burned 26 square miles, up from nearly 14 square miles on Saturday. Fire spokesman Brian Eady says the change is the result of both natural fire growth and blazes firefighters intentionally set to control the fire’s movement. Incident commander Todd Pechota told residents at a community meeting that the situation is “going to get worse before it gets better”. Residents of about 1,300 homes have been ordered to evacuate, including 220 on Saturday. No homes have been lost. BRITAIN is expected to be hit by a "European Monsoon" next week after the country basks in sunny conditions this weekend. Temperatures are expected to reach 26C in the south east over Saturday and Sunday with most of the country seeing warm sunshine. The warm weather is being driven by a tropical plume moving north from Africa and the continent. Along with the sunny conditions though there will be heavy showers and there is a risk of thunderstorms, especially in southern and western areas. Most of the time though it will be ideal for a BBQ or picnic, if you can avoid the downpours. But things are set to deteriorate as the week continues as westerly winds move in bringing more changeable weather and longer spells of rain, known as a "European Monsoon". Brian Gaze, director and forecaster of The Weather Outlook, told The Sun Online: "Early next week there should be quite a lot of fine and quite warm weather but the likelihood of showers remains. "Later in the week more typical British … [Read more...] about UK weather forecast sees sunny 26C weekend give way to rain as ‘European Monsoon’ hits Britain with plummeting temperatures next week
