BRITS will wake up to chilly fog and mist today before it clears in the afternoon thanks to some sunny spells. Forecasters warned the UK would feel much colder than Friday – with the maximum temperature expected to be 12C. Rain showers are also expected, especially in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but other areas will remain quite dry and sunny. SNOW could reach the fringes of London this weekend, with the freezing UK weather predicted to bed in until next month. Some forecasters claim this could be the coldest Halloween in almost a century, as temperatures drop dramatically. The mercury could plummet as low as -5C - and feel even colder when wind chill is factored in - in some remote Scottish spots, with lows hovering around 0C in the South. Cold Arctic air is set to sweep across the UK from Friday, bringing a much more wintry feel and forcing trick-or-treaters to wrap up warm over the Halloween weekend. An Iowa real estate lawyer who says he acted in good faith when he helped close nine real estate transactions for a rogue client was found guilty today in a federal mortgage fraud case in Davenport.The transactions that got Marc Robert Engelmann, 60, convicted of bank fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy involved rental properties purchased by two individuals in the Davenport and Quad Cities area.The two persuaded the sellers to agree to an on-paper contract price higher than the actual purchase price, then got higher mortgages based on the inflated bogus contract price, according to the Associated Press and KWQC.At closing, the buyers, Darryl Hanneken and Robert Herdrich, pocketed the difference between the actual sales price and the mortgage amount. They are serving 40-month sentences, after allegedly borrowing over $3.7 million to buy 30 properties and pocketing $900,000.
