Super Typhoon Jebi Path, Track Update: When Will Typhoon Hit Japan (Kyoto, Kobe, Tokyo)?

WorldSuper Typhoon Jebi, a Category 5 storm that’s become the world’s most powerful in 2018, is threatening Japan early next week, with threats to major cities Kyoto, Kobe, and Tokyo.Japan’s main island, Honsho, home to the country’s largest cities, is at risk for up to a foot of rain from Typhoon Jebi, according to the forecast updates. "Rainfall flooding, high winds, battering waves and coastal flooding are expected as Jebi pushes ashore around Tuesday, local time," according to The Weather Channel.Typhoon Jebi’s path and track update suggests the storm will likely aprroach Japan on Monday or early Tuesday next week, but it won’t be at current strength. Death toll climbs as Japan swelters under record heat

More than 30,000 people have been admitted to the hospital for heatstroke, and at least 77 deaths have been registered in the past two weeks, including a 6-year-old boy in Aichi prefecture who died last Tuesday after a school excursion, Kyodo News reported. The Meteorological Agency issued warning of heavy rains and strong winds in both the western and eastern regions of the country.More than 600 flights were canceled and fear of heavy flooding and mudslides prompted evacuation plans for almost 300,000 people. Orders were issued in some areas of Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Wakayama prefectures. The typhoon, which has been categorized as “very strong,” was traveling 37 miles south of Cape Muroto in Kochi Prefecture, western Japan, at a speed of about 27 miles per hour. Typhoon Jebi Latest: Japan Storm to Make Landfall Forcing Evacuations, Canceling Flights

World JapanHundreds of thousands of people in Japan have been told they need to evacuate as the country is battered by the strongest storms it has faced in quarter of a century.Wind and rain from Typhoon Jebi intensified on Tuesday amid warnings that southern parts of the country could be hit by landslides and flooding.The storm made its second landfall, hitting the main island of Honshu having slammed into Shikoku a few hours earlier as the strongest typhoon to make landfall in Japan since 1993. Typhoon kills at least 10, shutters major Japanese airport

TOKYO -- One of Japan's busiest airports remained closed indefinitely after the strongest typhoon to hit Japan in at least 25 years flooded a runway and other facilities while damaging other infrastructure and causing at least 10 deaths as it swept across part of Japan's main island. More than 400,000 households in western and central Japan were without power Wednesday, a day after Typhoon Jebi struck with sustained winds of 100 miles per hour at landfall. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said at least 10 people were confirmed dead and about 300 people were injured. A tanker that became unmoored by the typhoon's pounding waves and wind slammed into a bridge linking offshore Kansai International Airport to the mainland, damaging the bridge and the ship and stranded 3,000 passengers overnight at the airport.
