Bidding has begun for the 22 regional sports TV networks Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox. Amazon is bidding for all of the networks, including the YES Network, sources familiar said. Blackstone, a unknown sovereign wealth fund, along with the Yankees, are also bidding for the New York network. In addition to Amazon, Apollo Global Management, KKR & Co, The Blackstone Group, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tegna also made first round bids for the full slate of networks, the sources said. Fox itself did not submit a bid in the first round for the networks although there's potential they will join in the second round, the sources said. The second round of bids are expected before year-end and due diligence on the bids begin next week. CNBC was unable to learn the amounts. This is a developing story. Check back for updates. Members of the National Law Review have attended the LMA Annual Conference in the past. However, as my name badge suggested, this was the first time I had the pleasure of joining some of the finest people in the legal marketing industry. The conference was held this Monday April 13th to Wednesday April 15th at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel and featured three jam-packed days of quality programming and networking opportunities. People who wanted a little bit extra out of the conference could opt-in to attending one of six pre-conference workshops offered on Monday. Chamber of Commerce Sues ‘Yes Men’ for Fake News Conference (See Video)
A group of pranksters called the Yes Men is facing a lawsuit for impersonating the U.S. Chamber of Commerce at a news conference.The chamber is suing the Yes Men for trademark infringement, unfair competition and false advertising, according to the Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire blog. The suit (PDF posted by the Washington Wire) was filed late Monday in federal court in Washington, D.C.The chamber has been criticized for its position against a climate change bill. At the Oct. 19 press conference, an impostor calling himself Hingo Sembra claimed the chamber was now supporting legislation to control greenhouse gas emissions, the Washington Post reports. A real chamber representative burst into the room 20 minutes into the press conference, asserting that the event was a hoax, according to the Post account.The press conference misled several news organizations, including Reuters, CNBC and Fox Business Network, according to the Associated Press.
