Iran to Raise Uranium Enrichment Beyond Nuclear Deal Limits

· July 7, 2019 ·

Iran announced Sunday it will increase its uranium enrichment to an unspecified level beyond the terms of its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, breaking another limit set under the accord and furthering heightening tensions with the U.S. Setting another unspecified 60-day deadline for the deal, Iran raised pressure on European nations while urging further diplomacy to save an agreement that President Donald Trump unilaterally pulled the U.S. from a year ago. Hopes for saving the faltering deal appear increasingly dim, however, as the Europeans have been unable to offer Iran any effective way around U.S. sanctions that block Tehran's oil sales abroad and target its top officials. But Iran's recent measures, while of concern to nuclear non-proliferation experts, could be easily reversible if Europeans offer Iran the sanctions relief it seeks. Tensions began rising in May when the U.S. rushed thousands of additional troops, an aircraft carrier, nuclear-capable B-52 bombers and advanced … [Read more...] about Iran to Raise Uranium Enrichment Beyond Nuclear Deal Limits

Lewinsky Storms Off Stage After ‘Off Limits’ Clinton Question

· September 4, 2018 ·

Monica Lewinsky said Tuesday that she stormed offstage at a Jerusalem speaking event because of an interviewer's "off limits" question about former President Bill Clinton. The former White House intern turned anti-bullying activist tweeted that there were agreed-upon parameters regarding the topics of her televised conversation Monday night with a well-known Israeli news anchor, following a conference speech she gave about the perils of the internet. Lewinsky called Yonit Levi's first question about her relationship with Clinton a "blatant disregard for our agreement." Levi, the main anchor of Israel's top-rated evening newscast, asked Lewinsky if she still expected a personal apology from Clinton over the fallout of the scandal of their affair 20 years ago. Lewinsky responded: "I'm so sorry. I'm not going to be able to do this." She then put down her microphone and walked offstage. Levi reached out her hand and then anxiously followed Lewinsky offstage as some of the stunned audience … [Read more...] about Lewinsky Storms Off Stage After ‘Off Limits’ Clinton Question

Closing Time? Study Says Limit Alcohol to 1 Drink a Day

· April 13, 2018 ·

Here's some sobering news: A large international study says adults should average no more than one alcoholic drink per day, and that means drinking guidelines in many countries may be far too loose. The study found that people who down more than seven drinks a week can expect to die sooner than those who drink less. "What this is saying is, if you're really concerned about your longevity, don't have more than a drink a day," said David Jernigan, a Johns Hopkins University alcohol researcher who was not involved in the study. While the U.S. government currently recommends no more than seven drinks a week for women, the recommendation for men is 14 drinks. That's because earlier studies found women are hit by the effects of alcohol at lower amounts than men for several reasons, including women weigh less than men on average and blood alcohol concentrations rise faster. The Most Dangerous Countries for Americans to Visit The new study estimates that 40-year-old men who drink as … [Read more...] about Closing Time? Study Says Limit Alcohol to 1 Drink a Day

Southwest Airlines Limits Emotional Support Animals to Cats and Dogs

· August 16, 2018 ·

Southwest Airlines is joining a growing number of U.S. carriers overhauling its pet policy, announcing this week that it will only accept cats and dogs on board as "emotional support animals." Under the new policy, which goes into effect Sept. 17, passengers will be limited to one emotional support animal that must remain in a carrier or be held on a leash at all times, according to the airline. Passengers will also be required to present a "current" letter from a doctor or licensed mental health professional on the day of departure. The Dallas-based company is also limiting the types of trained services animals permitted in the cabin to cats, dogs and miniature horses. Service animals are specially trained to help people with disabilities. Delta Air Lines wants to know if your pet can behave before the animal can get on a flight. Delta said it will now require owners to provide detailed information before an animal can fly in the passenger cabin, including an assurance that it is … [Read more...] about Southwest Airlines Limits Emotional Support Animals to Cats and Dogs
