The crash site is near Bethel Road, about four miles south of FM 149. There's no immediate word how many people may have been on board. The extent of any injuries is unknown. Delhi HC grants permission to Red FM for participating in the ongoing mock FM auctions
On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court granted permission to the radio channel ‘Red FM’ owned by Digital Radio Broadcasting Ltd, to participate in mock auctions organised for the 3rd phase of the FM auction held yesterday (Wednesday) and the one going to be held on Thursday. This order was rendered by a Division Bench comprising Justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva.The order was passed on the basis of a plea filed by the Digital Radio Broadcasting Ltd asking the Court to grant permission to Red FM for participating in the mock auctions or to stay the upcoming auctions.Earlier on Tuesday, the Court had asked the Central Government to look into the option of postponing the auctions. Supreme Court has questioned the Centre’s refusal to allow private FM stations and community radio service operators to air news and current affairs programme.A bench headed by chief justice J S Khehar yesterday asked the government to consider permitting them to broadcast news and current affairs programme based on the information already available in public domain.Appearing for the petitioner NGO Common Cause, senior lawyer Jayant Bhushan said “government could not control flow of information and its decision was unconstitutional and violative of right to freedom of speech and expression”. Ban on news broadcast on private FM radio questioned by Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Central Government on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Common Cause (an NGO) seeking direction to the government to allow private radio stations, including community radio, to broadcast news.A bench headed by Chief Justice P. Sathasivam, heard the PIL. “How can you (the government) restrict FM radio channels from broadcasting news, as community radio channels are easily accessible”, the Apex Court has asked.
