In the latest twist in an ongoing family battle over medical care for a radio personality renowned for his “Top 40” programs and the voice work he did for Scooby-Doo cartoons, a California judge has ruled that Casey Kasem must be fed, hydrated and, at the discretion of his doctors, medicated. The Monday ruling by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy followed a decision by Kasem’s daughter, Kerri, who was appointed his conservator after raising questions about his care, to implement end-of-life measures, reports the Ministry of Gossip page of the Los Angeles Times (sub. req.).Her lawyer, Troy Martin, told the judge that Kerri Kasem and the 82-year-old’s doctors had stopped nutrition, hydration and some medication after deciding the process was too painful for her father, who has a form of dementia with effects similar to Parkinson’s disease. A lawyer for Kasem’s wife, Jean, says Kasem wants to live.“He never was in a coma. He’s … [Read more...] about Judge says ‘Top 40’ radio personality Casey Kasem must be fed, hydrated and medicated

Molinaro rejects Cuomo’s radio debate proposal, calling it ‘a staged fraud’
ALBANY – Under growing pressure, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, never a fan of public debates with his opponents, on Friday appeared to set the stage for a quick-hit debate that he proposed be held early Saturday morning on a radio station that airs in New York City. Not so fast said Molinaro, who for months has been urging Cuomo to debate. The Republican candidate quickly rejected what he characterized as a haphazardly devised debate with a format put together seemingly on the fly by Cuomo and his radio interviewers. And other minor party candidates, cut out of the one-on-one plan accepted by Cuomo, called any such format unfair to them. “I have no problem fighting against the forces of hate. I don’t. But then, Cuomo said, “If you want to do it Mr. Molinaro, if … [Read more...] about Molinaro rejects Cuomo’s radio debate proposal, calling it ‘a staged fraud’

Misidentified as a porn star by DJs, former 1L testifies against radio station in privacy suit
A former law student testified on Thursday that she still struggles with anxiety more than two years after two Kansas City radio personalities wrongly labeled her a porn star on their morning radio show.Ashley Patton was a 1L when her name was broadcast on KRBZ 96.5 FM in April 2012, according to a June decision allowing her false-light invasion of privacy claim. On Thursday, Patton testified in Kansas City federal court about her trouble sleeping and her anxiety, KSHB reports. The story does not report whether Patton continued her law studies or what she is doing now.The radio personalities had received Patton’s name after asking listeners to send text messages identifying local porn stars. The DJs then Googled Patton’s name, and the search results returned porn images for someone named “Ashley Payton” rather than “Ashley Patton.” Apparently not catching the different spelling, one of the DJs said Patton’s name on air and said, “Oh God, … [Read more...] about Misidentified as a porn star by DJs, former 1L testifies against radio station in privacy suit
