To say it has caused some friction already would be an understatement. And that only continued with her latest comments amid the Michael Cohen hearing.Speaking to Rolling Stone in an interview published Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez said that there is “no question” she’d vote to impeach President Donald Trump and doesn’t understand the controversy behind that statement. “I don’t even know why it’s controversial I mean, OK, it’s not that I don’t know why it’s controversial. I understand that some people come from very tough districts where their constituents are torn,” The … [Read more...] about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doesn’t Have A Problem Voting To Impeach Trump

If House Democrats try to impeach President Donald Trump, it will "backfire," Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Wednesday, but that does not mean they will not try. "The country is not looking for that," Dershowitz told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "But there will be radicals within the Democratic Party who won't be satisfied until there's an impeachment." Democrats are divided over whether they want to seek impeachment, Dershowitz said, but "extremists will be saying 'impeach, impeach, impeach. We now have votes, we can impeach.'" But that will be a "foolish abuse of their newly elected majority," Dershowitz said. He does, however, think there will be several investigations once Democrats take over the House and its committees. "I think that the various chairmen of the committees that have jurisdiction will be sending out subpoenas," Dershowitz said. "The American public will will not find that particularly attractive. What they want is to seek progress upon jobs … [Read more...] about Dershowitz: Dem ‘Radicals’ Will Push to Impeach Trump
AUSTIN — Democratic Senate hopeful Beto O'Rourke told a national television audience Thursday night that he'd vote to impeach President Trump and believes Texas can lead the way to a national embracing of relaxed immigration policies and gun control — unapologetically liberal positions that may be hard for some in his deep-red state to stomach. O'Rourke, an El Paso congressman giving up his seat to challenge Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, had previously suggested that he'd support impeaching the president over alleged collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice. But he went further while appearing at a CNN town hall from the U.S.-Mexico border town of McAllen, saying that even as members of Congress wait for more evidence to emerge during federal investigations, "I do think there's enough there for impeachment." Cruz has accused O'Rourke of being the only Democratic Senate candidate in the nation to support impeachment. At least one other, California state Sen. Kevin … [Read more...] about Beto O’Rourke says he’d vote to impeach Trump, given the chance
By Letters To The Editor | Bay Area News Group PUBLISHED: July 19, 2018 at 8:36 am | UPDATED: July 19, 2018 at 8:36 am Kavanaugh could stop any efforts to impeach Trump In the Minnesota Law Review, Judge Kavanaugh wrote “…the Constitution establishes a clear mechanism to deter executive malfeasance; we should not burden a sitting President with civil suits, criminal investigations, or criminal prosecutions.” How can we have impeachment without congressionally approved investigation? How should a House of Representatives responsibly draw up and vote on articles of impeachment without an investigation beforehand that yielded at least some evidence of impeachable crimes? And how can our Senate hold a fair impeachment trial without an investigation into the facts? Kavanaugh also argued that criminal investigations distract presidents, but the very same argument could be made against impeachment itself. Tom KahanOakland What do you think about this? What do your friends … [Read more...] about Letter: Could Kavanaugh stop any efforts to impeach Trump?
