Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., hosted campaign event Sunday geared toward younger voters, but less than a dozen showed up, according to the Daily Mail. Waters, who is running for re-election, invited her followers to the "Auntie Maxine Meet & Greet Tweet-a-thon" last Sunday, where they could meet "top social media influencers" and "Auntie Maxine, our fearless champion in Congress who taught us how to reclaim our time!" The two-hour event failed to attract many members of the target demographic, according to the Daily Mail, which reported only 11 millennials were seen in attendance. Waters tweeted a video of the event, which shows herself and the attendees speaking. "You can say whatever you want to say," she told attendees. Appearing for petitioner Jagdeep Singh Puri, a Delhi resident, Senior Advocate RS Suri submitted that wearing a turban is an essential part of Sikh religion and Sikh rights have to be protected. Even the Motor Vehicle Act exempts Sikhs from wearing a helmet. The government should frame guidelines in the regard, he argued. In the plea, the petitioner submitted that he was disqualified for a cycling event after he had refused to wear a helmet instead of a turban. The cycling event was organised by Audax India Randonneurs (AIR) in 2015.
