A race for one of California’s congressional seats has produced some bizarre subplots, giving it a faintly Shakespearean feel. One candidate is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to prop up an opponent. Another candidate bucked his party’s stance on Israel and made some antisemitic remarks in the process. And, to top it all off, the national GOP is mainlining money into the race to ensure a Republican incumbent makes it through next month’s primary. This is all happening in California’s newly drawn 40th Congressional District, which includes portions of Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, and the cities and communities of Yorba Linda, Chino Hills, Anaheim, Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo and Tustin. Republican incumbent Young Kim is facing three challengers, but the most serious are Democrat Asif Mahmood and Republican Greg Raths. BJP’s tryst with 100-member mark in Rajya Sabha
Last month, the BJP had touched the elusive 100-member mark in the Upper House but with the fresh round of Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for June this year, the party’s tally will fall once again below this much celebrated fête. On April 1 after winning three Rajya Sabha seats in the north-east, the BJP had reached the tally of 100. It was for the first time since 1988 that a ruling party touched this figure in the Upper House. In 1988 during the Rajiv Gandhi government, the Congress had a similar strength here. In the upcoming election, all seats from Andhra Pradesh will go to the YSR Congress. Out of the 24 seats, the BJP is likely to retain only 20 seats, bringing its current total of 95 members down to 91. Seven nominated seats are vacant and the BJP could count on these seven to add to … [Read more...] about BJP’s tryst with 100-member mark in Rajya Sabha

Jim Inhofe, hit back at Vice President Kamala Harris’ attacks on the recent Oklahoma bill banning nearly all abortions, claiming the state is “the most pro-life state” in the U.S. and he is proud of its “unwavering commitment to protecting the unborn.” In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Thursday, Mullin addressed the vice president’s criticism of the new law, which she called “absolutely shameful.” “I would just question her,” the Oklahoma native said. “What is so shameful about protecting babies?” “Today is the first day in over 40 years in Oklahoma [that] we’re not going to kill a single child from abortion,” he added. “That’s amazing.” Mullin, who introduced a bill last month that would impose harsher punishment for those who perform partial-birth abortions, explained that the new policy serves to defend the next … [Read more...] about EXCLUSIVE: Leading Oklahoma Senate Candidate Rep.
