Border Patrol agents in California on Monday seized enough fentanyl to kill over 2 million people. Agents in the El Centro border sector searched the vehicle at a highway checkpoint, where they found six black packages wrapped in cellophane hidden inside the car’s dashboard and air vents, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said Wednesday. The male driver, 53, and the female passenger, 27, in the car were both from Mexico and didn’t have the proper documents to be in the U.S. The seizure included 4.2 kilograms of fentanyl and 2.1 kilograms of heroin, according to CBP. Using the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) own metric that 1 kilogram of fentanyl could kill 500,000 people, the fentanyl seized has the potential to kill around 2.1 million people. Together, the drugs had an estimated street value of $189,200, according to CBP. Daily Caller Reporter Describes Meeting Migrants At The Border From ‘Belarus, Russia, Even Afghanistan’
The Daily Caller’s Jorge Ventura joined Laura Ingraham to discuss the crisis at the southern border Tuesday night, noting agents are overwhelmed as the situation worsens. “Here in the Yuma sector we have migrants coming from outside of the northern triangle countries,” Ventura explained. “We’ve met so far migrants from Belarus, Russia, even Afghanistan, India, Peru, Brazil, all coming here. And another kind of issue here as well is the role that the Mexican government plays. You know, most of these migrants, they cross to Guatemala and the first time they reach it Tapachula, Mexico, and they’re in Tapachula. They’re actually technically not legally allowed to travel throughout Mexico.” Ventura recently reported that Mexican authorities do little to nothing to prevent migrants from attempting to cross the border. Ventura told Fox News the Yuma sector is one of the hardest hit and that it has “gotten so bad there’s actually one border patrol agent literally apprehending 200 … [Read more...] about Daily Caller Reporter Describes Meeting Migrants At The Border From ‘Belarus, Russia, Even Afghanistan’

Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 15 GAYAN, Afghanistan (AP) — Tents, food and medical supplies rolled into the mountainous region of eastern Afghanistan where thousands were left homeless or injured by this week’s powerful earthquake, which state media said killed 1,150 people. A new aftershock Friday took five more lives and deepened the misery. Among the dead from Wednesday’s magnitude 6 quake are 121 children, but that figure is expected to climb, said Mohamed Ayoya, UNICEF’s representative in Afghanistan. He said close to 70 children were injured. Overstretched aid agencies said the disaster underscored the need for the international community to rethink its financial cut-off of Afghanistan since Taliban insurgents seized the country 10 months ago. That policy, halting billions in development aid and freezing vital reserves, has helped push … [Read more...] about Aftershock in Afghanistan as quake toll rises to 1,150 dead
The legacy of the Brexit referendum is a divided, confused Britain
Six years since the vote, and two years since the UK actually left the EU , Professor Sir John Curtice’s poll of polls suggests that 52 per cent would vote in a new referendum to rejoin the EU and 48 per cent to stay out. It feels as if we are fated to be divided by the cursed ratio for ever. That is why Boris Johnson ’s slogan about uniting the country and levelling up sounds so hollow. His premiership is built on division. There is nothing necessarily wrong with that. Democratic votes are binary. But there are different political styles. Tony Blair sought to put up a big tent that was so unifying it felt at times as if everyone was in it. Johnson himself tried to be an inclusive politician when he was mayor of London, twice persuading a Labour city to vote for a liberal, pro-immigration Conservative . That changed in 2016, when he and Michael Gove inevitably became leaders of approximately half of the population, divided from the other half by a fissure that was … [Read more...] about The legacy of the Brexit referendum is a divided, confused Britain
