By Carla Herreria President Donald Trump on Saturday encouraged a revival of the death penalty while condemning the deadly mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue allegedly carried out by an anti-Semitic gunman. “When you have crimes like this, whether it’s one, or another one on another group, we have to bring back the death penalty,” Trump said, speaking at a rally in Murphysboro, Illinois. “They have to pay the ultimate price,” he added. “They can’t do this. Sanders: Media Wrongly Blaming Trump for Attacks
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is accusing the media of wrongly blaming President Donald Trump for a mail bomb plot and a deadly weekend shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue. She said Monday at a press briefing that the first thing the president did was condemn the attacks and the first thing the media did was blame the president. Trump critics have said the president's harsh partisan rhetoric has fueled such attacks. Sanders told reporters that people should place the responsibility for the two attacks on the individuals responsible. White House Communications Adviser Mercedes Schlapp on Monday said Democrats who are accusing President Donald Trump of setting a divisive tone in the wake of the weekend synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh are being "outrageous." “You have these Democrats, and some members of the media, who are the ones being dividing, who are the ones demonizing this president, who’s the one who’s putting the blame on the President for the acts of these sick and deranged individuals,” Schlapp told Fox News' "America's Newsroom."
