Former President Donald Trump referred to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) as a RINO on Wednesday and warned he is helping “radical left Democrats” implement gun control. The Hill reported Trump made his comments on social media, writing: The deal on ‘Gun Control’ currently being structured and pushed in the Senate by the Radical Left Democrats, with the help of Mitch McConnell, RINO Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and others, will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY. Republicans, be careful what you wish for!!! Cornyn also faced pushback from the NRA this week, as they rejected the Cornyn gun control package as a piece of legislation that “falls short on every level.” The NRA noted, “This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, & use fed dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state & local politicians.” On Saturday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) also … [Read more...] about Donald Trump: John Cornyn Helping ‘Radical Left Democrats’ Implement Gun Control

The 15 GOP Senators Who Caved and Voted ‘Yes’ on Gun Control
Fifteen Republican senators caved Thursday night and voted “yes” on the gun control package Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) worked with Democrats to create. Cornyn’s gun control bill expands background checks for some gun buyers, uses taxpayer money to incentivize states to enact red flag laws, and broadens the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) prohibited purchasers list by using domestic violence statutes to cover dating relationships. It also heightens punishments for gun crimes that had nothing to do with Uvalde, Buffalo, Parkland, Las Vegas, Orlando, or Sandy Hook. CBS News reported that the legislation passed Thursday night by a vote of 65-33. Here are the 15 Republican Senators who caved and voted for the new gun controls: Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Sen. … [Read more...] about The 15 GOP Senators Who Caved and Voted ‘Yes’ on Gun Control
The Real Reason America Doesn’t Have Gun Control
After each of the repeated mass shootings that now provide a tragic backbeat to American life, the same doomed dance of legislation quickly begins. As the outraged demands for action are inevitably derailed in Congress, disappointed gun-control advocates, and perplexed ordinary citizens , point their fingers at the influence of the National Rifle Association or the intransigent opposition of congressional Republicans. Those are both legitimate factors, but the stalemate over gun-control legislation since Bill Clinton’s first presidential term ultimately rests on a much deeper problem: the growing crisis of majority rule in American politics. Polls are clear that while Americans don’t believe gun control would solve all of the problems associated with gun violence, a commanding majority supports the central priorities of gun-control advocates, including universal background checks and an assault-weapons ban. Yet despite this overwhelming consensus, it’s highly unlikely that the … [Read more...] about The Real Reason America Doesn’t Have Gun Control
Marjorie Taylor Greene clashes with reporter over gun control law in video
Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene clashed with a journalist over gun violence in America at a press conference and the video has gone viral on Twitter . Greene was speaking during a press conference at the Capitol on Wednesday when she got into an argument with a reporter asking questions. The British journalist, who hasn't yet been identified, argued the U.K. didn't have the same rates of murders as the U.S, as the pair discussed gun violence. The dispute comes a day after the Senate took steps toward passing major federal gun safety legislation in the wake of the Robb Elementary Texas school shooting. The shooting claimed the lives of 19 children and two teachers and has reignited the debate surrounding gun ownership in the U.S. "When British press wants to argue about our God-Given American gun rights, my answer is: 'go back to your own country,'" Greene wrote as a caption on the shared video. The clip so far has over 300,000 views. "It's our job to … [Read more...] about Marjorie Taylor Greene clashes with reporter over gun control law in video
Parkland Commission recommends teachers should carry guns
Teachers should be allowed to carry guns in school, provided they undergo training and volunteer, according to the state commission investigating the high school shooting last year in Parkland, Florida. The controversial recommendation is part of a preliminary 446-page report that the commission approved unanimously on Wednesday. The report comes as the United States grapples with how to prevent deadly shootings like the one at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, that left 17 dead. Read more: Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg, mocked by Laura Ingraham over college rejections, will attend Harvard The report is now with outgoing Governor Rick Scott, Governor-elect Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature. It describes in detail what is believed to have happened before, during and after the attack and cites numerous failures on the part of school and law enforcement officials in addition to proposals for improvement. Nolte: Abortion, Gun Rulings Are Civil Rights Victories That Will Save Lives
Overturning Roe v. Wade and declaring New York’s fascist conceal carry law unconstitutional are not only progress for the cause of human and civil rights–they will also save countless innocent lives. It need not be pointed out how this week’s 5-4 Supreme Court decision concerning Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization finally ended the moral and legal atrocity of Roe v. Wade or how it will save lives. The slaughter of innocent, unborn babies will end in any number of states, come under heavy restrictions in others, and likely save millions of lives. Unfortunately, this mass butchering will likely continue in the demonic blue states. Out of defiance, it might even increase. Overall, though, the infanticide numbers will almost certainly decrease. And those numbers are almost too horrific to comprehend. Since Roe became the law of the land in 1973, 63 million innocent babies have been slaughtered. Sixty-three million lives were snuffed out, almost all for … [Read more...] about Nolte: Abortion, Gun Rulings Are Civil Rights Victories That Will Save Lives
Trump attacks McConnell for advancing gun measures he previously supported
Donald Trump took aim Wednesday at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for helping to advance a bipartisan gun safety bill, even though the legislation includes measures the former president has backed in the past. McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, was one of 14 GOP senators who voted Tuesday night to open debate on the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. In a post on his Truth Social page , Trump sounded alarm bells on the proposed legislation while citing McConnell and another Republican senator who helped lead the bipartisan talks behind the bill . "The deal on 'Gun Control' currently being structured and pushed in the Senate by Radical Left Democrats , with the help of Mitch McConnell, RINO Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and others, will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY. Republicans , be careful what you wish for!!!" Trump wrote. The term "RINO" stands for Republican in Name Only. Marjorie Taylor Greene vows to “remove” GOP senators who backed gun bill
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene , a Georgia Republican, vowed to "remove" GOP senators from office for backing the bipartisan gun bill, describing the 15 lawmakers as "sellouts." The Senate passed the bipartisan legislation late Thursday in a 65-33 vote, marking the most significant step toward gun reform from Congress in nearly three decades. Fifteen GOP senators , including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell , voted in favor of the bill, despite the strong opposition of former President Donald Trump . Because the House is controlled by Democrats and needs only a slim majority for legislation to pass, the bill is expected to be approved by that chamber as well. President Joe Biden has urged the House to pass the legislation swiftly and plans to sign it. Greene, a staunch Trump loyalist, shared a video to Gettr on Thursday attacking the legislation and ripping the Republicans who support it. "To the Republican senators who are helping Biden take away … [Read more...] about Marjorie Taylor Greene vows to “remove” GOP senators who backed gun bill
Wisconsin paper slams Ron Johnson after vote against gun safety bill
The Wisconsin State Journal editorial board slammed Senator Ron Johnson on Sunday for voting against the bipartisan gun safety bill that was crafted in response to the rise of mass shootings across the country. After years of not making any progress, the Senate passed the gun legislation this week, with President Joe Biden signing it into law on Saturday. The package included enhanced background checks for gun buyers younger than 21-years-old, ended the "boyfriend loophole," and provided funding for red flag laws, mental health, and school safety. Though it does not go as far as some Democrats wanted, it's the most significant gun policy reform bill passed in decades. Fifteen Republican senators joined Democrats in passing the legislation, allowing it to earn enough votes to bypass the filibuster in the evenly divided chamber. Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, was not one of the Republicans to vote for the bill even though he is up for reelection in November in a … [Read more...] about Wisconsin paper slams Ron Johnson after vote against gun safety bill
SCOTUS Pushed America a Huge Step Backward on Gun Safety, Just As Congress Was Finally Going to Act
At some time later today, in response to a spate of mass shootings across the United States, the Senate will vote on the first major piece of gun control legislation in nearly three decades. This morning, the Supreme Court sought to make that entire effort close to a moot point . In a 6-3 decision, authored by Justice Clarence Thomas , the Court not only enshrined a constitutional right to carry guns outside the home for “self-defense,” but has potentially made it far more difficult for states to regulate gun rights. In effect, the Court has placed the Second Amendment in the same rarefied air as the First Amendment. It’s quite likely that many more Americans will die as a result. At issue before the Court was a New York state law that requires those seeking to carry a gun in public to show “proper cause.” Before today, New York residents who wanted such a right had to demonstrate that they had a justifiable need to do so. In Thomas’s opinion he argued that this … [Read more...] about SCOTUS Pushed America a Huge Step Backward on Gun Safety, Just As Congress Was Finally Going to Act
