Report: Trey Gowdy Joining SC Law Firm
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., will work as a white collar criminal defense attorney after leaving Congress in January, The Post and Courier is reporting. According to the newspaper, Gowdy will rejoin South Carolina’s largest law firm, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, where he worked in the early 1990s. Gowdy, who was asked on Thursday about the move, said he could neither confirm nor deny it. He said he will not announce his plans until after he leaves Congress to avoid filing additional disclosures. The firm is based in Columbia, South Carolina, and has more than 750 attorneys and government relations professionals in offices around the country. Rep. Trey Gowdy urges Senate to be “fair to the witness” during Kavanaugh, Ford hearings
Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy from South Carolina says that he expects his colleagues in the Senate to be "fair" to both Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, his accuser. Both are expected to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week into allegations that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted Ford when they were high school students. Gowdy, who has presided over his fair share of high-profile and politically charged hearings as chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said members on both sides of the aisle have an interest in being perceived as fair.
