A RARE look into the “world’s most endangered tribe” who hunt only using bows and arrows to survive have been released in these new images. The Awá are a nomadic group that must live on the run the 1,600-square-mile Arariboia Indigenous Land across in the Maranhão forest in Brazil. Somewhere between 60 to 80 of them live “uncontacted” and use the same methods of hunting and gathering as they have for generations. They still use bows and arrows and gather wild honey and babassu nuts in the dense primal forest. One image shows an Awá hunter with a small deer on his back while holding his bow and arrows with a hunting dog following behind. The isolated group also rely on the forest and its sources of water for survival. One photograph is of a group of women and a baby bathing in a river.
