Christina Ignatius, who owns Law School Tutor and claims to have been involved in multimillion-dollar business and real estate deals, compared the county’s Asian population to the cast of the hit movie “Crazy Rich Asians.” “It reminds me of all of the Asians who flooded into Orange County and then took over our mall at South Coast Plaza,” she said in a post on her Facebook page. “In fact, they came up with a shopping word called “snoshy,” it stands for posh and snobby. Home Daily News Top law schools ask law firms to disclose… Law Schools By Stephanie Francis Ward Posted May 17, 2018, 7:10 am CDT Alyssa Peterson After an outcry that law schools, not students, should be responsible for asking law firms about mandatory arbitration agreements and nondisclosure provisions for summer associates, 14 of the country’s top law schools this week asked that firms participating in campus recruiting disclose such policies in a new survey. “At law schools, we don’t talk about what people’s individual contracts look like. There’s the culture of secrecy [and] you’re told you’re not allowed to share your contract with anybody,” Molly Coleman, a first-year law student at Harvard, told American Lawyer. Coleman, one of the student organizers in the campaign, sent a press release about the survey May 14. Nidia Bañuelos, University of California, Davis (THE CONVERSATION) In response to protests calling for police reform and accountability, some U.S. police departments are partnering with colleges and universities to develop anti-bias training for their employees. In Washington D.C., for example, officers will take a critical race theory class at the University of the District of Columbia Community College. The idea of providing liberal arts education to officers to improve police-community relations and productivity is not new. As early as 1967, a federal commission charged with finding solutions to rising crime and police brutality recommended that all police “personnel with general enforcement powers have a baccalaureate degree.” However, recent research indicates that education has mixed results.
