A FARMER jailed for shooting a burglar says an OAP accused of knifing a raider was in ‘survival mode’ and should not be punished for protecting his family. Tony Martin, 73, shot dead 16-year-old Fred Barras with a pump action shotgun on his Norfolk farm in 1999. He fired his illegal gun three times towards two intruders, killing Barras and wounding his friend, Brendon Fearon, 29. Tony has never shown remorse for the shooting and has now called for all charges against 78-year-old Richard Osborn-Brooks to be dropped. The pensioner is accused of stabbing “burglar” Henry Vincent, 38, to death during a struggle at his home in Hither Green, South London. Mr Osborn-Brooks was arrested and quizzed by cops on suspicion of murder, sparking public outrage. Tony told the Daily Mirror: “I would have done the same thing if I was in Richard’s situation. “Until these people entered his space he was a law abiding man. The police should let him go as soon as … [Read more...] about Farmer Tony Martin jailed for shooting burglar says OAP who ‘stabbed raider’ was in ‘survival mode’ and shouldn’t be punished

The Delingpole Podcast: Peter Hitchens on Tony Blair’s Marxist ‘Cultural Revolution’, and his Trotskyist Past
In this week’s Delingpole podcast, special guest Peter Hitchens talks about his dismay at the lie that New Labour was even remotely “conservative”, Tony Blair’s past as an “undeclared, former Marxist” and his own experience as a “revolutionary socialist”. Hitchens recalled the mainstream outrage when he first asserted that the New Labour was a euro-communist project. In response, he mocked the mainstream’s conviction that Blair was “right-wing”, by bringing up “Blair’s own confession on Radio 4”, where he revealed that “he joined the Marxist organization when he was at university”.Hitchens also added that “‘6 members of Blair’s cabinet, including Blair himself, were undeclared former Marxist Leninists, who never explained or regretted their previous positions”. Hitchens also revealed that he is puzzled by how Blair “ended up in the Labour Party because one … [Read more...] about The Delingpole Podcast: Peter Hitchens on Tony Blair’s Marxist ‘Cultural Revolution’, and his Trotskyist Past
Tony Blair brands Unionist support for Brexit in Northern Ireland extraordinary
Tony Blair has said he finds it "absolutely extraordinary" that many unionists in Northern Ireland support Brexit, given its potential consequences for the region's political settlement. The former prime minister said the emergence of a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland would undermine one of the key planks of the Good Friday Agreement. He reiterated his warning that a return of border checks on the 310-mile frontier could pose a risk to the peace process.Mr Blair said the Good Friday deal had worked because it gave both unionists and nationalists key concessions. He said unionists secured the principle of consent - ensuring the future of Northern Ireland's place within the UK could only be changed with the support of the region's electorate - while nationalists obtained legitimacy for their aspirations for a united Ireland. The former Labour leader said Brexit could undermine the latter, if it was accompanied by any measures that would undermine the current … [Read more...] about Tony Blair brands Unionist support for Brexit in Northern Ireland extraordinary
Not An Easy Decision: Toni Boucher Opts to Run for Reelection to the State Senate
Republican Toni Boucher of Wilton, who has been exploring a run for governor since mid-summer, announced Wednesday that she's running for reelection to the state Senate instead.“The decision on how I can continue to best serve the people of our state has not been an easy one,’’ Boucher said at a brief press conference outside the state Capitol, where she was joined by her Senate Republican colleagues. “It has been based on where I can do the most for my constituents, my party and the wonderful people of Connecticut.”Boucher’s decision to skip the crowded governor’s race was not unexpected: time is running out and the party’s nominating convention is less than a month away. Her campaign account held less than $20,000 at the close of the first quarter filing period. This isn’t the first time Boucher has considered a gubernatorial bid only to scrap the idea. In 2014, Boucher also launched an exploratory committee before shifting her … [Read more...] about Not An Easy Decision: Toni Boucher Opts to Run for Reelection to the State Senate
