CASINO and Sopranos star Vinny Vella has died aged 72 following a short battle with liver cancer. The film star from New York was known for his lead roles in a number of Italian gangster films. In Martin Scorses's film Casino, Vinny played Artie Piscano and worked alongside Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone. And for five seasons he played the character Jimmy Petrille on hit series The Sopranos. Vinny also had a number of smaller but pivotal roles in classics including Donnie Brasco, Kissing Jessica Stein, Kill the Irishman and Find Me Guilty. 'NO MORE SUFFERING' In a statement confirming Vinny's death, his representative said: "We are saddened to report that Vinny Vella has passed and I'm sure that no one is more saddened than himself. Tom Rukavina, a feisty Iron Range politician who made his mark in the Minnesota House and ended his political career last week as a St. Louis County commissioner, has died. Sources confirmed Monday that Rukavina, 68, died as a result of a yearlong battle with leukemia. Rukavina died at a University of Minnesota hospital where he was being treated to receive a bone marrow transplant. “I’m terribly saddened to learn about the passing of my friend, former State Rep. THE teen yobs who trashed a World War 1 remembrance garden and bent a 'Tommy' statue have been unmasked. The group - all aged 18 - trampled over flowers beds before kicking and bending over a silhouetted statue in Rochdale in a "drunken rampage", a court heard. Police were alerted to the attack outside Touchstones art gallery in Rochdale, Greater Manchester and played back CCTV to see the youngsters pulling up flowers and vandalising the statue. The damage was originally estimated at £1,000. At Manchester Magistrates Court van delivery assistant Lewis Hall, university psychology and criminology student Lewis Hart, carpenter Jordan Taylor all from Heywood and Argos store assistant Elliott McBurnie, from Rochdale looked shame-faced as they admitted criminal damage following the attack on September 1 this year.
