Do you believe the report that Tom Brady might be playing through a torn MCL in his knee? It seems like something convenient to leak since he hasn’t been playing well, but it also seems like something he would do. Thoughts? – Len S. First, the idea that this is a possibility comes from an interview the NFL Network’s Mike Giardi did with The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich program Wednesday morning. Here’s what he said: “His lower half has been off, dating … [Read more...] about Do you believe Tom Brady is playing through a significant injury?
The first back-to-back December Patriots losses since 2002 have a way of sparking questions about anything and everything, even how a Hall of Fame coach determines personnel on Hail Mary coverage and how his Hall of Fame quarterback decides to pilot a potential game-saving drive. Bill Belichick was as usual disinterested with looking back on his weekly conference call, but did offer some more grist regarding the thin ice his Patriots are on if they’re to earn a ninth straight first-round bye in the AFC playoffs. That bye figures to be important as ever with the streaking (and physical) Colts, the run-heavy Ravens and the Titans — Patriot conquerors barely a month ago — looming as potential visitors to Foxborough for a wild-card round game. “It’s a bottom-line business,” Belichick told reporters on Tuesday. “We’ve lost two games on the last play of the game. It’s not good enough. Hopefully, we can do things better and have … [Read more...] about Bill Belichick talks bottom lines and his belief in Tom Brady’s brain
Tom Brady and the Patriots came up short of the end zone on the final drive against the Steelers on Sunday, resulting in an unexpected loss in Pittsburgh. On Monday morning, Brady called in for his weekly interview on WEEI’s “Mut & Callahan.” He discussed a number of topics relating to the disappointing loss, including Josh Gordon’s role, the piling up of penalties, and the circumstances of the final few plays of the game. The Patriots started well on offense, with Chris Hogan getting free to catch a 63-yard touchdown. After that, however, things didn’t go as planned for New England. “It was a good play by Chris,” said Brady. “It was obviously the way we wanted to start. And then too many missed opportunities from there on out, certainly with those drives after and in the first half. [We] came up short on a couple third downs and a few other opportunities in the passing game.” “Just a frustrating day,” Brady … [Read more...] about Tom Brady explained what happened on the final plays against the Steelers in WEEI interview

After the Patriots’ 17-10 loss to the Steelers in Pittsburgh Sunday, Tom Brady was asked what he would tell the folks back home panicking as New England dropped to 9-5. “We’re still in a decent position,” the quarterback reassured fans. “We’re ahead in our division and we got a lot of football ahead. We just have to look at it as an opportunity to learn from what happened this week and what happened last week and go out there and have a great week.” Brady went 25 for 36 for 279 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the Patriots’ second-straight defeat. He noted he wished the outcomes were different, but said New England will learn from the loss, work harder on the practice field this week, and execute better next weekend. The lone interception for the 41-year-old came in the second quarter, when he heaved a pass in Julian Edelman’s direction on 2nd-and-goal and instead found Steelers cornerback Joe Haden. Haden leaped to catch … [Read more...] about Tom Brady: ‘We’re still in a decent position’
