India’s GDP growth in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2021-22 could be as low as 2.5% to 2.9%, State Bank of India (SBI) economists have estimated, almost half the 4.8% growth projected earlier by the National Statistical Office (NSO), which will release the official data on May 31. While the NSO’s previous estimate had pegged GDP growth at 8.9% in 2021-22, a report from SBI’s group chief economic adviser Soumya Kanti Ghosh said a range of 8.2% and 8.5% is more likely, with the pace of economic activity slackening in Q4 owing to the Omicron wave and the ‘geopolitical conflagrations’ since February. “Economic activity, which gained strength in Q2 of 2021-22, with the ebbing of the second wave, has lost pace since Q3… the Q4 GDP numbers are expected to be much lower than Q3 [when GDP grew 5.4%] indicating a continuous deceleration in growth since the starting of the year,” the report said, adding that Q4 also marked the resurgence of retail inflation beyond the tolerance threshold of 6%. … [Read more...] about SBI expects GDP growth to dive below 3% in Q4, 2021-22

Bermuda Triangle mystery – seven theories from aliens to lost city of Atlantis
The Bermuda Triangle has sparked many conspiracy theories from aliens and ancient cities to angry gods. The heart of the Bermuda Triangle, sometimes known as the Devil's Triangle, is thought to be the unexplained reason for the disappearance of more than 50 ships and 20 airplanes, including a U.S. naval ship carrying 306 men. Over the years, it has become synonymous with mysterious disappearances and unfathomable tragedy, but a simple explanation of 'bad weather ' just isn't enough for some people. Australian scientist, Karl Kruszenlnicki claims to have solved the mystery of the disappearances of ships and aircraft alike. It covers 700,000 square-kilometre area of ocean and is prolific for unforgiving weather ( Image: Bettmann Archive) Get the news you want straight to your inbox. Who’s to blame for the rioting at Donald Trump rallies?
Shortly after protesters clashed with Donald Trump supporters Thursday night in San Jose, California, conservatives began blaming liberals for rioting against a presidential candidate. Liberals pointed a finger at the Republican presumptive nominee for his incendiary rhetoric and the violence of his own supporters. It's a cycle that seems likely to continue until November's election. Jim Geraghty, conservative blogger and National Review contributor, recently compared the demonstrators' rhetoric and signs at Trump rallies to those seen at Occupy Wall Street, with the Black Lives Matter movement and at the World Trade Organization protests that rocked Seattle in 1999. "There seems to be this sense in some newsrooms that left-wing protests are somehow inherently less violent, and if there is violence, it's somehow justified or understandable as a reaction to provocation from the right," he said in May. The post-rioting blame game extended to the East Coast Friday afternoon when … [Read more...] about Who’s to blame for the rioting at Donald Trump rallies?

Wait a Second, Is Working Out Naked a Thing?
The weightlifting area of my gym has a sign with a few basic rules: No children at any time Re-rack your weights Please keep your shirt on I’ve never actually seen any of these rules enforced. People know better; kids can easily jam their fingers between plates, leaving weights out is a dirtbag move and more than anything, walking around the gym floor without a shirt on is a cardinal sin. No one needs to see that, for starters, but more importantly, no one wants a sweaty surprise when sitting against the leather back of a machine. It’s possible this social norm is bothersome to a variety of gym-goers, though, if other trainees have anything in common with 61-year-old actor Christopher Meloni. The Wet Hot American Summer star, who just made his return to Law and Order: SVU , shared in a recent interview that he doesn’t only work out without a shirt on — he prefers to train completely nude. To be clear, Meloni isn’t dropping his drawers at a local Equinox. He said … [Read more...] about Wait a Second, Is Working Out Naked a Thing?
You Are Going to Get COVID Again … And Again … And Again
Two and a half years and billions of estimated infections into this pandemic, SARS-CoV-2’s visit has clearly turned into a permanent stay. Experts knew from early on that, for almost everyone, infection with this coronavirus would be inevitable. As James Hamblin memorably put it back in February 2020, “ You’re Likely to Get the Coronavirus .” By this point, in fact, most Americans have. But now, as wave after wave continues to pummel the globe, a grimmer reality is playing out. You’re not just likely to get the coronavirus. You’re likely to get it again and again and again. “I personally know several individuals who have had COVID in almost every wave,” says Salim Abdool Karim, a clinical infectious-diseases epidemiologist and the director of the Center for the AIDS Program of Research in South Africa, which has experienced five meticulously tracked surges, and where just one-third of the population is vaccinated . Experts doubt that clip of reinfection—several times a … [Read more...] about You Are Going to Get COVID Again … And Again … And Again
Sussmann defense, in closing argument, slams Durham case as ‘misdirection’
close Video Durham team unravels Clinton-backed Russia hoax Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett and Trump attorney Alina Habba break down the latest on the Michael Sussmann trial. NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! WASHINGTON, DC – Defense attorneys for Michael Sussmann delivered their closing argument Friday, casting the government’s case against their client as weak and one of "misdirection" and "smoke and mirrors." Sussmann defense attorney Sean Berkowitz opened his closing by comparing Special Counsel John Durham’s case against his client to a famous David Copperfield illusion where he made the Statue of Liberty "disappear" by moving the audience’s attention elsewhere. Berkowitz presented to the jury a poster reading: "The Special Counsel’s Smoke and Mirrors." "The special counsel’s office bought a snow-making machine and blew that over the lawn, and they want you to think it snowed," Berkowitz said. Daughter of woman stabbed 70 times ‘will never get the chance to know her mum’
The grieving daughter of a woman stabbed to death 70 times by her partner in a frenzied, drug-fuelled attack says she has been robbed of a chance to get to know her mum. Simone Ambler, 49, was found dead following an argument with her partner Donald Payne, 62, on March 29 last year. Payne stabbed Simone 70 times before calling 999 for an ambulance - telling the operator he had stabbed her 'a couple of times'. When police and paramedics arrived, they were met with a devastating scene. Simone was fatally wounded and Payne was sitting in an armchair, his hands, feet and jeans covered in blood. On the arm of the chair lay the knife he had used to kill her. Mum-of-two Simone was pronounced dead at the scene. Payne was arrested on suspicion of murder but later pleaded guilty to manslaughter by way of diminished responsibility, Lancashire Live reports. But as the killer began his life sentence, Simone's daughter Lauren Turner spoke of her sadness she would never spend any … [Read more...] about Daughter of woman stabbed 70 times ‘will never get the chance to know her mum’
