Shane Logan also rejected criticism that the two players, whose contracts were revoked at the weekend, had been effectively hung out to dry by their club and country. Mr Logan, who has refused to quit his position as chief executive, said he believed both men had made a “serious mistake” but he hoped they would have success elsewhere. The Wellington Wizards Rugby Club won four state championships over the weekend.Wellington Wizards U-9 state champions The club’s Under-9, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 teams claimed titles at the Florida State Rugby Union state championships hosted by the Hobe Sound Polo Club. The Wizards’ U13 team won their second straight title and also finished undefeated. The team is led by coach Jaime Rivera. The Wizards defeated the Okapi Wanderers from Weston in the title game. Jaxson Patterson was named the MVP of the championship game. Other contributors included Jaime Rivera Jr., Andrew Mack Jr., and Josh Langsam.The Wizards’ U15 team was seeded second entering the title game, but went on to defeat the Okapi Wanderers 31-14 for the championship. The Six Nations tournament - which features the national teams of France, Italy, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland may be partly sold to a private equity firm. It all comes as the Rugby World Cup starts in Japan this Friday. The latest proposal could see CVC, the former owners of Formula One, take control of 15% of the commercial arm of the business. Six Nations confirmed that negotiations are taking place and said in a statement they believe this investment would be vital for the long-term future of the sport. They added they won't be making any further comments on it for now. World Rugby's Chief Executive, Brett Gosper, responded to questions at a news conference in Japan. He said: "I would have to say we don't know enough about the ins-and-outs of that deal, it is a bit shrouded so we cannot really comment at this stage whether it is good or bad. The 2019 Rugby World Cup kicks off in Japan on Friday (September 20), the first time the tournament has been held in Asia. It is the ninth edition of the event, which is held every four years, between September and November. The opening match will see hosts Japan take on Russia in Tokyo at 12:45 CEST. Then, over the following six weeks, the tournament will be played out at a dozen different venues across the country. The teams There are 20 teams from six continents, including eight from Europe: England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Italy, Georgia and Russia. The highest-ranked team in the tournament is New Zealand, the winners of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, and the lowest-ranked is Namibia. The draw for the 2019 World Cup was made on 10th May 2017, and the 20 teams were divided into four groups (pools) of five teams each. Each team will play every other team in their pool once.
