Baby Born on Paris Suburban Train Gets Free Rides Until 25

The Paris public transport company RATP says a baby boy born in a suburban train will get free rides in the French capital until he is 25. Live-tweeting the event Monday, the RATP said the baby was born in a train in the center of Paris, disrupting traffic on the RER A line. Rescue workers took care of the mother and child and brought them to the nearest hospital. News of the "unannounced birth" was displayed on Paris train traffic screens. The RER A line issued its "sincere congratulations" to the baby's mother — and tweeted that traffic was back to normal. Lots of Parisians happily welcomed the birth on social media. Others, however, noted the RATP's gift wasn't all good news, saying that Paris train traffic is frequently disrupted by strikes and other incidents. 21 Detained Before Paris Protests as Police Deploy Force

Paris police deployed in large numbers Saturday for the fifth straight weekend of demonstrations by the "yellow vest" protesters, with authorities repeating calls for calm after protests on previous weekends turned violent. At least 21 people were detained beforehand. Security forces in riot gear were positioned around central train stations and along the famed Champs-Elysees boulevard, where shops were closed and their windows boarded up in anticipation of the protests. Authorities have said about 8,000 police and 14 armored vehicles were being deployed in the French capital. Last weekend, groups of demonstrators smashed and looted stores, clashing with police and setting up burning barricades in the streets. Paris police said 21 people had been detained by mid-morning in Paris before the protests. There was a strong police presence outside the central Saint Lazare train station, where police in riot gear checked bags. A PARIS terror attack suspect charged in connection with the Isis massacre is back in court for the first time since his dramatic arrest. Salah Abdeslam has been jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of attempted murder and possession of weapons after a shootout with police in March 2016. But just who is the 28-year-old French national? Who is Salah Abdeslam? Born on 15 September, 1989, Abdeslam is a 28 year old Belgium-born French national of Moroccan descent. Abdeslam's family have lived in Belgium since the 1960s but have French nationality from when his parents lived in Algeria. He was a bar manager of his brother's bar in Brussels, but sold it about six weeks before the Paris terror attacks that killed 130 people on November 13, 2015. Among the nine attackers involved in the attack was Abdeslam’s brother, Brahim Abdeslam, 31, who blew himself up inside a packed restaurant. ON May 12, 2018, Khamzat Asimov went on a bloody stabbing rampage in Paris, killing one and injuring four others. Here's what we know about the suspected killer who shouted "Allahu Akbar" before he was shot dead by police marksmen in the French capital. Who is the Paris attack knifeman? The knifeman, named by prosecutors as Khamzat Asimov, is a suspected terrorist. The 21-year-old claimed asylum in France with his family from war-ravaged Chechnya in the early 2000s . Although he had no criminal record, he was on a security watch list as agents were concerned that he was in contact with Isis. He was described by eyewitnesses as a young man with brown hair and a beard, and was apparently dressed in black tracksuit bottoms. It's the first time that a terrorist with links to Chechnya has struck in France, said investigating sources.
