Turkey angry after Swiss tout ‘kebab ban’

· September 29, 2016 ·

Turkish kebab chefs are up in arms after they misunderstood a spoof campaign to ban the kebab in Switzerland. A website announcing the popular initiative ‘Yes to a kebab ban' appeared in Switzerland a fortnight ago calling for Switzerland to ban the eating of kebabs in public places. Now, Liberal MP Robert Hannah wants a special date set aside to pay tribute to the Frankenstein's monster-like creation. Not just any old day either, but January 1st – New Year's Day. There is a serious point behind the MP's motion. The idea is to pay tribute to … [Read more...] about Could Sweden make New Year’s Day kebab pizza day?

The man in his 20s named only as Nikolay was identified as an illegal immigrant from Kazakhstan. He told police:  "When I lived in Kazakhstan, there were a lot of dogs, and it was normal to cook the meat on a barbecue and eat them.” He confessed: “I used a wire to strangle the dog. “I was given the animal as payment for a job.” After one night in the cells he was released and returned to the scene to try to collect the dog’s carcass which he had strung up on a wall.
