McDonald’s Drops Signature Crafted Burgers, Trims Late-Night Menu
McDonald’s apparently isn’t lovin’ its craft burgers anymore. The world’s largest hamburger chain said it is ditching the “Signature Crafted Recipes line” on its national menu in order to focus on the Quarter Pounder. The decision comes less than two years after McDonald's launched the gourmet burger options, which included Pico Guacamole, Sweet BBQ Bacon and Maple Bacon Dijon. The Chicago-based company introduced in January two new versions of their classic Quarter pounder: one with applewood smoked bacon and a delux burger with lettuce and tomato. On December 1, 2014, to implement the nutrition labeling provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (Affordable Care Act), FDA issued a final rule that requires disclosure of certain nutrition information for standard menu items in certain restaurants and retail food establishments (“Food Labeling; Nutrition Labeling of Standard Menu Items in Restaurants and Similar Retail Food Establishments”) and a final rule that requires calorie declarations for food sold from certain vending machines (“Food Labeling; Calorie Labeling of Articles of Food in Vending Machines”). These rules were in progress for years (the comment periods for both rules closed in July 2011). Suit by NY Lawyer Claims Health Club’s Cold Breakfasts Broke Full-Menu Promise
A Manhattan lawyer has sued a luxury health club, saying it stopped providing a full hot breakfast as promised.The suit by Richard Katz seeks $730,000 against the Setai Club & Spa Wall Street. The Associated Press, the New York Daily News and the New York Post have stories.Katz claimed he renewed his $5,000 annual membership based on a promise that he would continue to get a full free breakfast. Previously, Katz tells the Post, the club provided breakfast at a nearby eatery with “a full restaurant menu like you get in a hotel—omelets, pancakes, waffles, yogurts, meats, juices.”When the restaurant closed for a month, the spa substituted a cold buffet on a roof deck. Judge Tosses Lawyer’s Suit Against Health Club for Changing Its Breakfast Menu
A New York lawyer who sued his health club because it eliminated its full breakfast menu will have to pay court costs after a judge barred him from pursuing the case.Judge Ellen Coin of Manhattan dismissed the suit by lawyer Richard Katz this week, report the New York Daily News and the New York Post. The Daily News headline says Katz has egg on his face, its photo caption says his suit was “cap’n crunched,” and its opening paragraph says he “has to fork over $440 after a judge ruled that his lawsuit was toast.”Katz paid $5,000 a year to belong to the Setai Club & Spa Wall Street.
