Chris Brown blasts Best R&B album winner after Grammys loss
Chris Brown appeared far from impressed that he missed out on scooping the Best R&B Grammy Award on Sunday, if his recent social media posts are anything to go by. Brown was nominated in the category for his album Breezy (Deluxe) , pitching him against Mary J. Blige for Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) , Robert Glasper for Black Radio III , Lucky Daye's Candydrip , and P.J. Morton's Watch The Sun . Glasper was the winner of the category, with the award being handed out in the hours before the live broadcast of the 65th Grammy Awards , held at downtown Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena. After it emerged that Glasper, 44, had walked away the victor, Brown, 33, took to his Instagram Story on Sunday to share a post emblazoned with the words: "Who the F*** Is Robert Glasper," to which he added a face with tears of joy emoji. In an apparent reference to Glasper's accomplished career as a pianist and musical arranger, Brown added in a follow-up post: "I gotta get my skills … [Read more...] about Chris Brown blasts Best R&B album winner after Grammys loss
Airbnb to Ban All ‘Open-Invite Parties’ as Part of New Guidelines
Airbnb is banning all "open-invite parties and events" from being hosted at an Airbnb property as part of new guidelines set to be rolled out in 2020. The latest regulation comes as part of the company's effort to address safety concerns after a gunman opened fire during a Halloween party hosted in an Airbnb property in California. The new policy states that "all 'open-invite' parties and events are banned in Airbnb accommodations. This covers any event that the organizer opens up to anyone who wants to attend, such as gatherings advertised on social media. Hosts who attempt to circumvent this ban and allow guests to throw large parties will be subject to consequences," the company said in a statement on its website . "We may reach out to hosts to ask them to update their House Rules to address these concerns. When changes to House Rules are insufficient or if the complaints persist, listings will be subject to suspension or removal," Airbnb added. The latest announcement … [Read more...] about Airbnb to Ban All ‘Open-Invite Parties’ as Part of New Guidelines
Imran Khan Will Be Arrested if Fresh Protests are Launched, Says Pakistan Minister
Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday warned Imran Khan that he would be arrested if he dared to launch fresh anti-government protests, and blamed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief for indulging in the ”politics of agitation.” Sanaullah fired the salvo at the former prime minister while speaking to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers at a party convention in Multan in Punjab province, according to the Dawn newspaper. The minister’s warnings come days after Khan instructed his workers and supporters to prepare for the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ (fill the prison movement) against the federal government for inflicting custodial torture on his party leaders and delay in announcing fresh general elections. ”I ask the people to get ready and wait for my call for ’jail bharo tehreek’. There will not be that much space in Pakistani jails to have them all,” Khan, the 70-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician said during his television address from his Zaman Park … [Read more...] about Imran Khan Will Be Arrested if Fresh Protests are Launched, Says Pakistan Minister
Hinduism Must Become Missionary Again, If India wants to Win Silent Demographic Warfare
Veteran journalist and editor R Jagannathan has just come out with a book, Dharmic Nation: Freeing Bharat, Remaking India , a compilation of 17 chapters largely aimed at helping Hindus “rediscover the essential dharmic heritage of Bharat and close ranks to defend them”. One chapter, ‘Why Hinduism Must Become a Missionary Religion’, is especially pertinent given the challenges the Sanatana Dharma is facing in the land of its birth. While stating that the “universe is always expanding or contracting somewhere” and “life is about birthing more cells in the body than killing them”, Jagannathan makes a convincing argument that Hinduism needs to regain its missionary nature if it wants to survive the challenges confronting it. “Religions are essentially ideas with physical, emotional and psychic dimensions. If they do not seek to expand, they will shrivel, even if this trend is not clearly visible in one’s own lifetime. But when it comes to a tipping point, religions may die all of a … [Read more...] about Hinduism Must Become Missionary Again, If India wants to Win Silent Demographic Warfare

SC Advances to Feb 7 Hearing on Plea Against Appointment of LC V Gowri as Madras HC Judge
In a significant development, the Supreme Court on Monday advanced to February 7 the hearing on a plea challenging the appointment of lawyer Lekshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri as a judge of the Madras High Court, soon after the Centre notified her judgeship. The apex court had earlier in the day agreed to hear on February 10 the petition against her elevation but the matter was mentioned again and the hearing was fixed for Tuesday by a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud which said the collegium has taken note of “certain developments” after her name was recommended to the Centre. During the second mention, the bench was apprised by senior advocate Raju Ramachandran that the Centre has notified the appointment of Gowri as an additional judge of the Madras High Court and urged for urgent intervention. The proposal to elevate the woman lawyer, who has been representing the Centre before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, has been mired in controversy after reports … [Read more...] about SC Advances to Feb 7 Hearing on Plea Against Appointment of LC V Gowri as Madras HC Judge
The Democratic Party’s Tortured Relationship With Corporate PAC Money
When progressive Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) was briefly entertaining a run for the White House in early 2019, he promised that if he took the plunge, his campaign would reject corporate PAC money. But Brown—who since declining to seek the presidency has accepted more than $1 million in corporate PAC donations—will not make that same promise as he gears up for what’s sure to be a contentious re-election fight in 2024. “Anyone who knows Sherrod knows he’s one of the nation’s strongest leaders in taking on big corporations on behalf of Ohio workers—that’s one of the reasons Ohioans continue to elect him to the U.S. Senate and why he will win this race in 2024,” Brown campaign manager Rachel Petri said in a statement to The Daily Beast. “We are proud of the grassroots coalition he’s built and have no doubt it will show up to support him again as we gear up for next year.” Petri did not reply when asked why Brown, who accepted more than $7 million in corporate PAC money … [Read more...] about The Democratic Party’s Tortured Relationship With Corporate PAC Money
