Produced by Clare Friedland, Lourdes Aguiar, Elena DiFiore and Shoshanah Wolfson [This story previously aired on July 15, 2017. It was updated on Dec. 29, 2018.] Matt Herren still struggles to make sense of what happened the night of Oct. 12, 2012, when his close friend, Ryan Poston, was killed. "I think about him every day," Herren said. "You don't think something like that is ever going to happen to someone you know." "Is there something I could've done that could've prevented that? And I know a lot of people in his life had to have felt the same way," Herren told "48 Hours" correspondent Peter Van Sant. How did things spiral so out of control between Ryan and his girlfriend, Shayna Hubers, that she shot him to death -- insisting it was to protect herself? "What was lost when your friend was shot and killed?" Van Sant asked Herren. "He's the type of person that you want in your life," he replied. "Not just a friend, but a loving son, a protective, adoring older brother." "He had … [Read more...] about New murder trial for Shayna Hubers: Why did she shoot Ryan Poston six times?

JAMES Bulger's mum was left sobbing after watching a Channel 5 documentary on her two-year-old son's gruesome murder. Denise Fergus has hit out at TV bosses for failing to consult her over the show and said she was forced to learn new details of the killing at the same time as millions of viewers. James Bulger: The New Revelations aired last night and featured fresh information on James's killers Jon Venables and Robert Thompson. The pair - then aged ten - shocked the nation when they abducted the toddler and mutilated him before leaving his body on railway tracks in Bootle, Merseyside, in 1993. Denise told The Mirror: "I didn’t know what to expect. I was on pins all day before [the broadcast]. I didn’t know what I was going to see or hear in it. "I felt like I was an outsider looking in on someone else’s story. I was fuming. He is my son, not theirs, and I was not allowed to see what they were saying about him. "I feel like they consider him their property. He … [Read more...] about James Bulger’s mum Denise Fergus in tears watching ‘too sympathetic’ Channel 5 documentary after bosses refused to tell her what it revealed
