The State Cabinet was informed on Thursday that the government had received less than 3% of its total expenditure of ₹1.84 lakh crore in 2021-22 from Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs). It received just ₹5,200 crore. At a meeting presided by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, officials brought to his notice that despite the raw deal meted out by the Centre, the growth rate of revenue by the State government was 15.3% this financial year. The receipts from CSSs and other programmes of the Centre were minus 12.9% this year. The meeting mainly discussed resource mobilisation by government in the face of a large amount of revenue deficit so far this financial year. The Centre had introduced Single Nodal Account for the first time for release of funds to States which delayed the process. The Centre wrote a letter, dated August 12, 2022, to the Telangana government, raising multiple issues in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the state. “A Central team of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India was deputed to conduct a monitoring visit in connection with implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGS in the State of Telangana from 9th June to 12th June 2022. The team found several issues with the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGS in the State of Telangana,” says the letter. In a shocking incident, the husband and son of a mentally disturbed woman sent her to an unknown place on a train. Later the father and son duo took her death certificate and transfer the movable and immovable properties worth crores of rupees to their names. The woman was rescued by an NGO in Chennai. When the Police showed the photo of the woman which was sent by the representatives of the said NGO, after seeing the photo the son of the woman ruled out the claim that she is his mother. In some relief to the State which is grappling with huge stocks of paddy at rice mills and given the Food Corporation of India’s reluctance to procure boiled rice that was generally produced in rabi, the Centre has agreed to lift eight lakh tonnes of boiled rice. The State had a production of 50.39 lakh tonnes of paddy in rabi of 2021-22 and, at 67% recovery of rice, the yield of rice was expected to be 33 lakh tonnes. But, the Centre had insisted that the State that it deliver the entire 33 lakh tonnes as raw rice. However, the State government expressed helplessness because the yield of raw rice out of paddy of rabi was not expected to be more than 55% per quintal. The petrol and diesel prices on Saturday, August 13, remained unchanged by the oil marketing companies (OMCs). The prices for the two major auto fuels have continued to be steady for over two months now, with Maharashtra being the only exception. The state government in Maharashtra had announced to reduce the value added tax (VAT) on the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 per litre, respectively, on July 15. The VAT cut is likely to put a burden of Rs. 6,000 crore on the Maharashtra government on an annual basis. Earlier, on May 21, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a reduction in the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre. The fuel prices have remained stable since then. For the national capital on August 13, petrol and diesel prices remain the same at Rs 96.72 per litre and Rs 89.62 per litre, each. As per the latest notification issued by fuel retailers, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged across the country on Friday, August 12. The cost of petrol in Delhi stands at Rs 96.72 per litre, while that of diesel is Rs 89.62 a litre. Meanwhile, the petrol price in Mumbai costs Rs 106.31 per litre, while diesel is sold at Rs 94.27 per litre. It may be noted that fuel prices dropped in Maharashtra recently as the state government announced a cut in value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 a litre and by Rs 3, respectively. The fuel rates have remained the same in the entire country since the Central Government announced a cut in excise duty. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman, on May 21, announced that the central excise duty on petrol has been cut by Rs 8 per litre and the same on diesel has been dropped by Rs 6 per litre. The results of the Telangana State EAMCET-2022 will be released at 11 am on August 12 (Friday) at the JNTU auditorium Kukatpally by Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. The results will be available on https://eamcet.tsche.ac.in immediately after declaration of the results. The engineering part of the test was conducted from July 18 to 21 and 1,56,812 students attended it. The medical and agriculture stream was conducted on July 30 and 31 with 80,575 candidates taking the test. The EAMCET Committee met on Thursday at JNTU and finalised the results after taking into account the objections raised on the questions and the normalisation process to be adopted for the final marks.
