QAnon followers react with glee after FBI Mar-a-Lago raid: “Trust The Plan”
Followers of the debunked QAnon conspiracy theory have reacted with glee and optimism following the FBI raid at Donald Trump 's Mar-a-Lago home, as they believe it is part of "the plan," which will somehow end in the former President's favor. The FBI raid on the Florida resort sent shockwaves through the American right when the agency executed a search warrant, amid allegations Trump has unlawfully kept White House records. Trump himself branded the raid as a "witch hunt" and Republican politicians, such as Texas Senator Ted Cruz , described it as "corrupt and an abuse of power." The FBI ordered the raid after Trump allegedly took 15 boxes of presidential records meant for the National Archives to Mar-a-Lago, according to The Washington Post . But QAnon influencers, known for their fanatical support of Trump, had a more optimistic outlook on the raid and reassured their followers to trust FBI director Christopher Wray and "the plan." Their apparent trust in the … [Read more...] about QAnon followers react with glee after FBI Mar-a-Lago raid: “Trust The Plan”
Kelis calls Beyoncé’s fans “a joke” as they swarm her IG after song spat
Kelis called Beyoncé's fans "a joke" on Wednesday, as she clapped back at them for mobbing one of her Instagram posts following a spat over a track being sampled. Beyoncé recently removed a sample of Kelis' 2003 hit "Milkshake" from her new album, Renaissance , after Kelis branded its use "theft," alleging that she had not been asked for permission to use it. Kelis also called Beyoncé's alleged actions "stupid and disrespectful." The original version of "Energy" featured an interpolation from "Milkshake," in which Beyoncé, 40, sang a variation of the iconic "la-la, la-la, la" from Kelis' hit. In light of the fallout, this has since been removed without comment from Beyoncé. However, it would appear that a faction of Beyoncé's devoted army of fans—collectively called the Beyhive—are not happy, as they swarmed Kelis' most recent Instagram post. Kelis, who turns 43 on August 21, took to the image-sharing platform to post a series of photos of herself donning an … [Read more...] about Kelis calls Beyoncé’s fans “a joke” as they swarm her IG after song spat
Macrovariable projections in uncertain times
The Fed has raised its benchmark interest rate again by a whopping 0.75%. The Reserve Bank of India has also been forced to raise interest rates further but also take other steps. These decisions in the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting are based on what the members of the MPC see as the likely course of the economy in the months ahead. But, the trajectory of the world economy, and its likely impact on the Indian economy, is imponderable. So, Indian policymakers would face two crucial problems. First, the main uncertainty is due to Russia’s war on Ukraine and the resultant economic sanctions on Russia, as well as the zero-COVID-19 policy in China that repeatedly implements lockdowns leading to global supply bottlenecks. Second, policy has to base itself on data. If it is deficient, it introduces additional uncertainty, making projections for the future difficult and causing policies to fail. This will compound the problem that results from the global uncertainty. … [Read more...] about Macrovariable projections in uncertain times
AAP govt. looking for scapegoat for own wrongdoing: BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in its latest showdown with the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government over the now-scrapped excise policy, accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia of having perpetrated a scam worth crores through it. The party said Mr. Sisodia’s allegations of corruption in the policy being the handiwork of former Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal were an attempt to look for a scapegoat as a CBI investigation into the “scam” was more than likely to put the Deputy Chief Minister in the dock. “Now that the heat of investigation has reached them, they are busy looking for the scapegoat. Sisodia is accusing the L-G of last-minute changes in the policy and AAP leaders are seeing flaws in it after 10 months of its implementation in November last year,” BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said. ‘Favours to liquor mafia’ “Kejriwal and Sisodia will have to answer why they waived off ₹144 crore to the liquor mafia. They extorted money … [Read more...] about AAP govt. looking for scapegoat for own wrongdoing: BJP
Final attempt to save beluga whale in River Seine before it starves to death
Environmentalists will try to move a dangerously thin beluga whale that strayed into the River Seine last week in a final attempt to save its life. The mammal, measuring 4m (13ft), will be transported to a saltwater river basin for a "period of care" by medics who believe the animal is sick, said Lamya Essemlali, president of Sea Shepherd France. If the whale responds to treatment, it may finally be released back to the open sea. While it was not immediately clear how environmentalists will transfer the whale to the river basin, French media said they might use a barge and then a truck. Conservationists are hoping to spare the whale the fate of an orca that strayed into, and then died, in the Seine in May. Advertisement The marine conservation group has described plans to move the beluga - which was first spotted last week in the Seine, worryingly far from its Arctic habitat - as an "enormous operation". While the move "has a risk factor because it's … [Read more...] about Final attempt to save beluga whale in River Seine before it starves to death
Chuck Schumer Thinks This Is the Reason Manchin Flipped
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer got fellow Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) to do something few have done before: vote along Democratic Party lines. Some are calling it the Manchin-Schumer bill , and even Schumer wasn’t sure it would happen until the end. “He has different views on a lot of things, and when he backed out the week before, well, as he said it, we let the dogs loose,” Schumer explains on the latest episode of The New Abnormal podcast. Subscribe to The New Abnormal on Apple Podcasts , Spotify , Google Podcasts , Stitcher , Amazon Music , or Overcast . So what nudged Manchin in their favor? Schumer thinks his colleague’s decision came down to climate change guilt he didn’t want to live with. “People were saying, ‘Joe Manchin, you could be the one person who’s standing in the way of dealing with global warming. And if you don’t, you could be the person who destroyed the globe. And he felt that. He felt that,” says … [Read more...] about Chuck Schumer Thinks This Is the Reason Manchin Flipped
‘I was so poor I had to wear girls’ clothes to school – now I live life of luxury’
When Zak Shafi was growing up, his family did everything they could to make ends meet. The 23-year-old had no idea how short of cash they were until a classmate spotted his school trousers on the changing room hook in PE and noticed he was wearing girls' uniform - and started to bully him. He tells The Mirror: "I went to school at Wembley High, it was a state school, it improved massively during my time there but to begin with I think it used to be one of the worst performing schools in the country. It wasn't all that at all. A lot of my clothes growing up came from my family, they were passed down to me, little did I know there was a difference between girls' and boys' trousers - the boys had buttons on the back pockets and the girls didn't. "One day in PE one of the guys asked who was wearing girls' trousers as they were hanging up, and I thought it couldn't be me - but it was. I asked my parents why I was wearing girls' trousers - they always did their best but they said they … [Read more...] about ‘I was so poor I had to wear girls’ clothes to school – now I live life of luxury’
