Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) urged President Joe Biden and his administration to reimplement Title 42 at the border. Cuellar argued that without “repercussions” at the border, there would be a “record number of people coming into the United States” this fiscal year. “You know, and I feel bad for the president because there’s so many issues happening in the United States domestically and across the world, dealing with Russia and China, so, I mean, I feel, you know, bad for him,” Cuellar stated. “But at the same time, there are people that can implement the laws that we have on the books already to make sure that there are repercussions — because otherwise, when we finish this fiscal year, which will be on September 30, we are going to have record number of people coming into the United States.” “And this is why certain policies like Title 42 are important to keep in place while we look at the situation at the border,” he added. … [Read more...] about Dem Rep. Experts have warned the rise in migrants could mean an increase in people added to the terror watchlist. Overall, the law enforcement agency has apprehended 50 people on the terrorist watchlist at the southern border in FY2022, according to the CBP Office of Field Operations. “The big worry is with the chaos down there, when you have these kinds of people coming to the border, you have to assume that some of them got in,” Todd Bensman, author of “America’s Covert Border War,” told the Washington Times. Borders open but national parks still quiet
JOHOR BARU: Despite the opening of the international borders and the several hundred thousand tourists coming into the country over the last 10 days, there have been few foreign visitors to Johor’s national parks. Johor National Parks Corporation (PTNJ) director Hanis Musalman Salehan said that prior to the border closure some two years ago, ecotourism in the state was a hit, especially among foreigners. “The Pulau Kukup National Park and Tanjung Piai National Park were some of the more popular places for nature lovers from around the world and Singapore. “Both parks are very accessible to Singaporeans,” he said. Hanis Musalman said there could be many reasons for the lack of tourists at the national parks including the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP). “Another factor is the Ramadan month. Also, there are no long public holidays in Singapore during this period,” he said. … [Read more...] about Borders open but national parks still quiet
Poll: Most Hispanic Voters Support Trump’s ‘Title 42’ Border Policy
A majority of Hispanic voters support former President Donald Trump’s Title 42 immigration policy that makes it easier for the federal government to deport border crossers and illegal aliens, according to an Axios-Ipsos poll released Thursday. Axios found that 51 percent of Hispanic Americans support keeping Title 42 in place. On the other hand, just 44 percent are opposed to the policy. “I think because it’s a COVID mitigation thing, we do see sort of higher support for it, than if it were just sort of a pure immigration concern,” Ipsos pollster and senior vice president Chris Jackson told Axios. Jackson was reportedly “surprised” that most Hispanics supported Title 42. These poll numbers come as President Joe Biden’s administration is in a legal dispute over the pandemic-era immigration policy. After Biden announced the program would end in May, 21 states sued the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), alleging Biden unlawfully terminated the program. A federal judge … [Read more...] about Poll: Most Hispanic Voters Support Trump’s ‘Title 42’ Border Policy

SCOTUS delivers blow to Trump, allowing Biden to end “Remain in Mexico”
Former President Donald Trump was dealt a blow on Thursday when the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision in favor of President Joe Biden and his administration regarding asylum seekers in Mexico seeking immigration hearings without proper documentation. The court issued a 5-4 decision in Biden v. Texas regarding the Trump administration's Remain in Mexico policy, also known as Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), enacted in 2019 and prevented thousands of migrants from entering the U.S. while going through legal proceedings. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the opinion, joined by Justices Stephen Breyer , Brett Kavanaugh , Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, in favor of ending the Trump-era policy while Justices Samuel Alito , Amy Coney Barrett , Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas dissented. The decision came after other recent controversial decisions made by the conservative-leaning Court regarding concealed-carry gun laws in New York and the overturning of … [Read more...] about SCOTUS delivers blow to Trump, allowing Biden to end “Remain in Mexico”
Supreme Court Shuts Down Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld Joe Biden’s attempt to unwind one of the Trump administration’s signature immigration policies, in a ruling that will have expansive implications for the president’s lurching pursuit of creating an orderly asylum system at the U.S.-Mexico border. The nation’s highest court found that the Department of Homeland Security did have the authority to end enforcement of the Migrant Protection Protocols, better known by the Trump-given nickname “Remain in Mexico.” “The Government’s rescission of MPP did not violate” the Immigration and Naturalization Act, the court’s majority ruled in a 5-4 decision, with Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh joining the court’s liberal wing. The policy, which allows border agents to release people seeking asylum into Mexico as they wait for their proceedings in the U.S. to be adjudicated, forced more than 71,000 asylum-seekers back onto Mexican soil during the Trump administration. Those … [Read more...] about Supreme Court Shuts Down Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy
