Click here to read the full article. “ Only Murders in the Building ” was a surprising triumph last year — a comedy whose amiable, low-key wit built in power as its first season ran on. With fine work by Steve Martin , Martin Short and Selena Gomez at the center, it added up to a portrait of disaffected and alienated people. In its second outing, “Only Murders” no longer has its element of surprise: We know what it can do. But that’s the only thing this show has lost. With its rococo details of life in a New York doorman-building overlaying careful and meticulous construction, the Hulu whodunit comedy is as strong as ever in its second outing. Nolte: 11 Ways Democrats Helped Overturn Roe v. Wade
No one did more to ensure that the moral and legal atrocity called Roe v. Wade was overturned than Democrats. Let’s count the ways, shall we… Harry Reid How do we even begin to thank the late Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for ending the filibuster? Harry ended the filibuster in 2013 so Barry Obama could fill the courts with fascist radicals. This act ensured then-President Trump could get his trifecta of perfect Supreme Court justices over the finish line. If Reid had not killed the filibuster, at least two of those three (Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett) would have been non-starters, and Roe v. Wade would still be the law of the land. Thank you, Harry! Lena Dunham From where I sit, rape-hoaxer Lena Dunham led the pro-abortion crowd into a corner they could not escape from. Back in 2016, when Dunham said , “Now I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had,” she shifted the left’s public attitude. For decades, the … [Read more...] about Nolte: 11 Ways Democrats Helped Overturn Roe v. Wade

A judge in Louisiana temporarily blocked three state laws that would ban virtually all abortions from taking effect Monday. The abortion restrictions were written to take effect if the Supreme Court ever overturned Roe v. Wade, which it did on Friday. Several states across the country have enacted similar laws, known as "trigger laws." Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Robin Giarrusso issued the temporary block shortly after abortion providers in the state filed a lawsuit, according to the order . Abortion groups, represented by the Center for Reproductive Rights, argued the abortion restrictions violate providers' due process rights and "lack constitutionally required safeguards to prevent arbitrary enforcement." Boris Johnson’s Rwanda showdown with Charles – as by-election danger mounts back home
Boris Johnson faces showdown talks with Prince Charles after his plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda sparked outrage. The pair are due to meet at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in the capital Kigali - where the Prime Minister’s jet touches down tomorrow to kick off an eight-day diplomatic whirlwind. The summit is a few miles from the hostel where asylum seekers were due to be forced from Britain under a £120m deal. Yet the shamed Prime Minister has no plan to visit the site, after the first removal flight was grounded by the European Court of Human Rights. It will be the first time the pair have met since explosive reports the Prince of Wales branded the policy “appalling”. Clarence House has not confirmed or denied the private comments, which also include that the heir was “more than disappointed”. Government sources expect the pair to have a one-on-one "side conversation" at the margins of the summit, their first since June 3. "They are due to … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson’s Rwanda showdown with Charles – as by-election danger mounts back home
West Texas Pivot: Amarillo Mayor Signs Letter Calling for More Gun Control
Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson signed a letter to Gov. Greg Abbott (R) asking for more gun control last week while the nation was absorbed with Supreme Court decisions. Amarillo, located in the Texas Panhandle, is a place where cowboys still roam, a place where ranchers with handguns on their hips and rifles in their trucks drive across flat land to break ice before sunrise so cattle can have water to drink. It is now also a city tied to the latest in-state gun control push via Mayor Nelson. Texas Tribune reporter Joshua Fechter listed the gun controls sought by the mayors who signed the letter to Abbott. Those controls include universal background checks, red flag laws, and raising the age to buy an “assault weapon” to 21. California has a red flag law. They also have universal background checks and a minimum purchase age of 21 for semiautomatic rifles. (The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled the minimum purchase age unconstitutional on May 11, … [Read more...] about West Texas Pivot: Amarillo Mayor Signs Letter Calling for More Gun Control
Mayra Flores: ‘Never thought’ I’d be attacked by Democrats ‘because I was born in Mexico’
Mayra Flores, the first Mexican-born woman elected to Congress , spoke to Newsweek about supporting the end of Roe v. Wade, responded to attacks from her November opponent, and addressed her past use of Q-Anon hashtags and retweeting of conspiracy theories about alleged 2020 election fraud. Flores, who launched a successful insurgent candidacy in the 34th Congressional District special election race to fill the remainder of the term of Filemon Vela, who vacated the seat, tweeted that she thanked God for the Supreme Court decision ending federal abortion protection. "If we want to see real change in bringing crime down, we have to raise a generation to respect life in the womb," she said at a press conference with House Republican Whip Steve Scalise. Asked about Texas law, which allows exceptions for abortion if the life of the mother is threatened but not in the cases of rape and incest, Flores said her "heart goes out" to women whose lives are threatened by their … [Read more...] about Mayra Flores: ‘Never thought’ I’d be attacked by Democrats ‘because I was born in Mexico’
Louisiana and Utah trigger laws banning abortions temporarily blocked by courts
Judges in Louisiana and Utah on Monday temporarily blocked prohibitions on abortion in their states following last week's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that ends a national right to the procedure. The high court on Friday overturned Roe v. Wade , which for nearly 50 years had granted women the constitutional right to an abortion. More than a dozen states set so-called trigger laws which were written to take immediate effect, banning or severely limiting abortions, in the event Roe v. Wade was overturned. A Louisiana judge on Monday issued a temporary restraining order against the state from enforcing its ban on abortions, leading to the immediate resumption of the procedure. Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Robin Giarrusso granted the request of plaintiffs Hope Medical Group For Women and Medical Students for Choice. Trigger states immediately enact anti-abortion law June 24, 2022 03:05 Hours later on Monday, Utah Third … [Read more...] about Louisiana and Utah trigger laws banning abortions temporarily blocked by courts
