KOTA KINABALU: The authorities have issued a warning to the public not to put up illegal advertisements such as posters and banners on public property especially if they involved allegations of crimes having been committed. This came after A4-sized posters were found pasted on the pillars of a flyover as well as on streetlight poles in Lintas here several days ago. The posters contained the photo of a man and a woman, whose names and identity card numbers were also included. There is also the wording “Penipu” (scammer) printed on the posters. Sabah Commercial Crimes Investigation Department chief Supt G. Moses Govindarajoo said people should refrain from putting up advertisement materials without approval from the Kota Kinabalu City Hall. “My advice to those who have fallen victims - lodge a police report instead of putting up such posters as this is against the by-laws,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (May 17). Bung Moktar graft trial: Prosecution closes case, oral submissions on June 24
KUALA LUMPUR: The prosecution in the corruption case of Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and his wife Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad closed its case on Tuesday (May 17) after calling 30 witnesses. Deputy public prosecutor Law Chin How told Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob after Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Asst Supt Norsharil Saharom, 37, who is the 30th witness finished giving his statement. Rozina ordered the prosecution and defence to file their written submissions on or before June 17. She also set June 24 for both parties to give their oral submissions before deciding whether the couple would be acquitted or ordered to enter their defence over corruption charges amounting to RM2.8mil to obtain approval for Felcra Berhad to invest RM150mil in Public Mutual Berhad unit trust.
