Since emerging from the underground rap scene, Future and Young Thug have both quickly built rabid fan bases with their unique flows and shout-outs to Atlanta and southern hip-hop culture. Now their first joint mixtape, Super Slimey , is here (released at midnight), giving fans the collaboration they've wanted and needed. Future has been one of rap's most popular MCs since the release of his 2012 mixtape Astronaut Status . The 33-year-old's melodic lyrics and nimble vocal style laced over hard-knocking, techy beats is a feature of notable tracks like "Turn on the Lights," off his first studio album, Pluto, to third album DS2 's "F*uck Up Some Commas." This year, Future made history when he became the first artist to ever replace himself in Billboard 's number one albums spot. After landing at the top of the list with the debut of his album Future , released on February 17, he topped himself just a week later with the release of his sixth album, HNDRXX . An Eagles fan covered his entire back with a Nick Foles tattoo
Lots of fans get tattoos to honor their favorite teams—but getting your entire back covered with the likeness of your favorite team's backup QB is a bit more unusual. That's exactly what a fan did, however, to honor Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. Foles described meeting the man who got the tattoo in an interview with the Huffington Post published on Wednesday . Asked by writer Laura Bassett—who was Foles' childhood friend—about his weirdest fan encounter, the Philly QB brought up the back tattoo. "The tattoo things are pretty crazy," he said. "I met a guy at a signing the other day—his whole back was me with a trophy on the 'Rocky' steps." Bassett followed up, "Wow. Was it a good tat? What did you say?" "I mean, it was his whole back," Foles responded, via the Huffington Post. "Forever. There's not much you can say. I was like, 'That's cool, man.' That's there forever." To be fair to the Eagles fan, Foles did lead Philadelphia—a city that is … [Read more...] about An Eagles fan covered his entire back with a Nick Foles tattoo
A teacher’s green mission in Odisha
As a teacher Bijay Kumar Bhatt has inspired scores of students to learn and succeed in life through his classroom teachings in Odisha’s Puri district over past two decades. But, he is eulogised as a role model for what he has achieved outside the classroom. Mr. Bhatt has singlehandedly planted 30,000 trees in Astaranga area, a coastal pocket in Puri which has borne the brunt of cyclones, floods and tidal surge for years. The trees he has chosen to plant are palm, date palm and neem. “It was the 1999 Super Cyclone that stirred me up. Lakhs of trees were uprooted while tidal surge had inundated vast stretches of cropland making it worthless for taking up crop in future. I could not imagine the green cover regaining its pervious shape in quick time,” he recollected. Mr. Bhatt who teaches Sanskrit at Belabhumi High School, Astaranga, resolved to contribute what he could as an individual. He would collect saplings from government nurseries and plant them in community land and along … [Read more...] about A teacher’s green mission in Odisha
Barcelona Sack Ernesto Valverde, Appoint Quique Setien as Successor
Spanish champions Barcelona have sacked their coach Ernesto Valverde and appointed Quique Setien as his replacement, the club announced. The decision to remove Valverde was confirmed following a board meeting that lasted more than four hours at Camp Nou on Monday afternoon. Barca are top of La Liga but have won only one of their last five matches. Valverde is the first coach the club has sacked mid-season since Louis van Gaal in 2003. "FC Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde have reached an agreement to terminate the contract that united both parties," read a club statement released on Monday night. Setien will be presented in a press conference at Camp Nou at 2.30pm local time (1330 GMT) on Tuesday. "Barcelona and Quique Setien have reached an agreement for the latter to become first team coach until 30 June 2022," the club said. The Jan. 6 hearings are great for Ron DeSantis
While Ron DeSantis has been critical of the House select committee's investigation into the events leading up to the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, the Florida governor could be the one who benefits most from it politically amid continuing speculation he is preparing a run for the presidency. Neither Trump or DeSantis has formally declared their intentions for the White House in 2024, but both have long been thought as the two main frontrunners who will eventually be battling for the GOP nomination. As the January 6 hearings continue to put Trump at further risk of being the first-ever former president to be charged with a crime, DeSantis looks set to escape completely unharmed by the committee's presentations. More than 18 months after the Capitol riot, DeSantis' name has not been linked to any attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, and he was not present in Washington, D.C. at the time. DeSantis, who did condemn the violence at the Capitol in the … [Read more...] about The Jan. 6 hearings are great for Ron DeSantis
Chappie Stars Discuss Robot Fights, Animated Butlers and Mullets
At a press conference for media who had just watched a screening of Neill Blomkamp's movie Chappie , some bizarre questions were traded on what would make an ideal robot, the art of creating the most stereotypical Australian character, and which comic book hero or robot would win in a fight. Why do themes like artificial intelligence keep resonating with humanity as we advance? Neill Blomkamp: My point of view on AI, which ties into the nature for humans constantly looking into the reasons for why we exist and why consciousness exists, changed during the making of Chappie . I'm not actually completely sure that humans are going to be capable of giving birth to AI in the way that films fictionalize it. You have weak artificial intelligence which is like a robot or computer system that follows a list of protocols that are yes, no answers that can be as complex as you want. And then you have strong AI, which is basically like a human, something that can think up a thought … [Read more...] about Chappie Stars Discuss Robot Fights, Animated Butlers and Mullets

‘Men in Black’ at 25: How the Sci-Fi Hit Made Will Smith the Biggest Star of His Era
Click here to read the full article. If Steven Spielberg had his way, then “ Men in Black ” would have been a very important stepping stone in the career of…Chris O’Donnell. The superstar filmmaker, who was tasked with producing the sci-fi comedy that opened July 2, 1997, thought that the role of Agent J was tailor-made for the rising actor. Although the idea of O’Donnell teaming up with Tommy Jones may seem ludicrous now, it made sense at the time. After all, O’Donnell’s star was at its zenith in the mid-1990s, propelled by buzzy turns in “Scent of a Woman” and “Mad Love,” and not yet brought crashing back to Earth by the disaster that was “Batman & Robin.” More from Variety Tyler Perry on 'De-Escalating' Situation After Will Smith Oscars Slap: 'He Couldn't Believe What Happened' 'Bel-Air' Star Jabari Banks on Being Compared to Will Smith and the Power of Gen Z Artists Jada Pinkett Smith Speaks Out on Oscars Slap: Will Smith and Chris Rock Must 'Reconcile' … [Read more...] about ‘Men in Black’ at 25: How the Sci-Fi Hit Made Will Smith the Biggest Star of His Era

President Donald Trump has inspired tattoos for both supporters and critics
July 17 is designated National Tattoo Day, and the art of tattooing, which dates back to China in 2100 B.C., shows no sign of ending anytime soon. As designs become consistently more intricate, a new tattoo rose to popularity in the wake of the 2016 election—the face of President Donald Trump. While it's certainly not as popular as, say, a moon or an arrow, the design has found a place on various people's bodies. Illinois-based tattoo artist Charles David Tracy told Newsweek that he's completed only one Trump tattoo so far but has two more people scheduled for the tattoo. "The folks who want them seem to be supporting the president," he explained. "I really can't label them as Republicans or Democrats. To be honest, it's not really my business. As long as the client is happy, I'm happy." The tattoo of Trump that he completed is a complex design that looks nearly identical to the president, who is pictured in a suit and tie with a stern expression on his face. No detail was … [Read more...] about President Donald Trump has inspired tattoos for both supporters and critics
