Jennifer Bard, the University of Cincinnati College of Law dean who in March was placed on administrative leave after faculty members discussed a vote of no confidence, has filed a lawsuit against the university.The federal complaint (PDF), filed Friday in the Southern District of Ohio, alleges denial of due process, breach of contract and First Amendment retaliation. It seeks reinstatement for Bard as dean, and unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. She joined the law school in July 2015 and has a five-year contract for the dean position, which pays $300,000 annually. Stormy Daniels’ real name is Stephanie Clifford, but the “hush agreement” referred to her as Peggy Peterson or “PP”, according to the suit, filed in California state court. The agreement referred to Trump as “David Dennison” or “DD.” Trump didn’t sign the agreement “so he could later, if need be, publicly disavow any knowledge of the hush agreement and Ms. Clifford,” according to the suit seeking a declaratory judgment. Bill Cosby Sues Accuser Whose Allegations Resulted in His Arrest
Bill Cosby has filed a lawsuit against Andrea Constand, the very woman whose allegations are the heart of a Pennsylvania criminal case against him. Cosby apparently filed this lawsuit the day before he was set to appear in a criminal hearing over a motion to dismiss his case, according to The New York Times. The lawsuit is a breach-of-contract claim reportedly filed against Constand, her lawyer, her mother and TheNational Inquirer’s Publisher. The defendants, in this case, are subject to a confidentially clause, as a result of a confidential settlement between Cosby and Constand in 2005. It is unclear at this point what exactly the lawsuit alleges.Constand told investigators that Cosby drugged and raped her at his Pennsylvania home back in 2004. She also filed a lawsuit against him at the time. The New Jersey District Court recently ruled that an economic damages expert retained by plaintiffs’ counsel in a class action was not entitled to any further compensation for his work. The facts in Rothstein v. Harstad (September 30, 2014) are a virtual catalogue of what an expert witness should not do when rendering professional services. Ronald Harstad, a professor of economics at the University of Missouri, was retained by plaintiffs’ counsel to perform damages calculations as an expert in a class action lawsuit involving alleged misrepresentations in the sale and marketing of prepaid calling cards. Updated: Jonathan Chan and Karla Ford expected to be second-year law students at Texas Southern University this year.Instead, the two are making headlines after filing an unusual federal lawsuit in the Southern District of Texas last week. It contends the D grades they got from an adjunct professor teaching a first-year contracts class were “arbitrary and capricious,” intended to “curve them out” of the class rather than objectively assess their performance, reports the Houston Chronicle.Naming as defendants the school and the then-adjunct, Shelley Smith, the suit asserts claims for alleged breach of contract, defamation, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
