Then came the pressure. First from an Irish defense that forced an off-balance, ill-advised throw and a game-ending interception. Then from the Spartans fans who deemed Cousins, then a sophomore, was not fit for the job. After scoring 21 points and grabbing eight rebounds in Michigan State’s 86-77 victory at Value City Arena, Ward was named the Big Ten Player of the Week.
