NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! We heard a lot from Democrats, President Joe Biden, the media, and environmentalists about how great the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will be for climate change. Curiously, it was crickets over the new law’s central claim — that it will reduce inflation. It won’t. Trump’s Money Man Allen Weisselberg Pleads Guilty
The Manhattan District Attorney’s attempts to flip former President Donald Trump’s loyal money man have officially failed, as the tax-dodging ex-chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg took a plea deal Thursday morning and won’t testify against his lifelong boss. Instead, he’ll get what some might consider a sweetheart deal for a 75-year-old man who kept his lips shut and wouldn’t implicate his old boss: six months or less behind bars. His legal team expects him to realistically spend three months in prison, and he will face five years of probation after serving his sentence. He will also have to pay back $1,994,321 in taxes he owed, prosecutors said in court. In return, Weisselberg has also agreed to openly testify about the way the Trump Organization rewarded him with untaxed corporate perks for years in the form of expensive tuition payments for his grandkids at a top-tier Manhattan private school, a luxury car to use anytime he wished, and a fully-paid swanky apartment … [Read more...] about Trump’s Money Man Allen Weisselberg Pleads Guilty
Horoscopes today – Russell Grant’s star sign forecast for Friday April 29
Russell Grant takes a look at what today could bring for your horoscope - and what you can do to be prepared. Aries People will try to sway you from your intentions but some may not have realised how adamant you can be once you have made your mind up. Accepting a decision may seem like an automatic response when a senior colleague rejects your ideas and plans but once you have thought about it, you will think of other ways to get them to take notice. Taurus Where there is risk, an impulsive friend needs to be persuaded that there should be more caution than care. A neighbour will confide in you and share information that should really have been kept a secret. Once you realise this you will reassure them that whatever has been said will go no further. Gemini An older relative you haven’t had time to visit recently is feeling neglected. If you think they are being too demanding, it might be better not to voice your thoughts. You can’t be here, there and everywhere … [Read more...] about Horoscopes today – Russell Grant’s star sign forecast for Friday April 29
Walgreens, Walmart and CVS ordered to pay $650 million over opioid sales
CLEVELAND — A federal judge in Cleveland awarded $650 million in damages Wednesday to two Ohio counties that sued CVS, Walgreens and Walmart over the way the national pharmacy chains distributed opioids to their communities. U.S. District Judge Dan Polster said in his ruling that the money will be used to the fight the opioid crisis in Lake and Trumbull counties outside Cleveland. Attorneys for the counties put the total price tag at $3.3 billion for the damage done. The judge admonished the three companies, saying they “squandered the opportunity to present a meaningful plan to abate the nuisance” after proceedings last spring to determine what the counties were owed. Lake County is to receive $306 million over 15 years. Trumbull County is to receive $344 million over the same period. Polster ordered the companies to immediately fork over nearly $87 million to cover the first two years of payments, but it was unclear whether they had to pay that money during their … [Read more...] about Walgreens, Walmart and CVS ordered to pay $650 million over opioid sales

W.H.O. Chief Tedros: World Ignoring Ethiopian Civil War Disaster Due to Racism
The director-general of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, accused heads of state on Wednesday of racism for failing to address the ongoing “manmade” humanitarian disaster in his native Ethiopia, saying the Russian invasion of Ukraine is getting more attention due to the skin color of Ethiopians. Ethiopia descended into civil war in November 2020 between the ruling government – led by ethnic Oromo Abiy Ahmed, a Nobel Peace Prize winner – and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), a Marxist former ruling party that Abiy designated a terrorist organization last year. Tedros, an ethnic Tigray, served in multiple roles in TPLF governments before being elected to run the W.H.O., including health minister and foreign minister. As part of that war, the Abiy government has blockaded the northern Tigray region, affecting not only TPLF militia members but the general civilian population of the region. The blockade has resulted in mass starvation and … [Read more...] about W.H.O. Chief Tedros: World Ignoring Ethiopian Civil War Disaster Due to Racism
