An international soccer match in Chile took an unexpected turn over the weekend after a pitch invading dog halted play. On Saturday, the Chile women's national soccer team played host to South American rivals Venezuela at the Estadio La Granja, Curicó. A friendly match serving as a warm-up for the Copa América Femenina, the game wasn't exactly action-packed with Chile mustering just one shot on target and Venezuela ultimately triumphing 1-0 thanks to a brilliant Mariana Speckmaier goal eight minutes from time. However, by then, the match's main highlight had already been and gone. That came in the 37th minute when, for reasons still unknown, a dog decided to run onto the pitch. Pitch invaders are nothing new in the world of soccer, but dog interlopers are a little less common. There are myriad reasons why someone may want to enter the field of play. Some do it for attention , others to protest a particular issue. Then are those who simply get carried away by the … [Read more...] about Playful dog halts soccer game after invading pitch for strokes—”Red card”

Torchy’s Tacos , the wildly popular Austin-based fast-casual chain, opened a 5,000-square-foot location, at 63 North Quebec Street, in Denver’s Lowry neighborhood, on June 22. It is the company’s seventh restaurant in Denver and its tenth overall in Colorado, according to a statement. The other three are in Colorado Springs, Boulder and Fort Collins. “Colorado has some of the most loyal, die-hard taco junkies in the country, and it’s because of them that we’ve seen such incredible growth in the state since we opened our first Denver restaurant in 2016,” Torchy’s founder and CEO Mike Rypka said in a statement. Torchy’s is known for its oversized fusion tacos that include everything from breakfast tacos made with brisket; green chile pork tacos with cotija cheese; and fried chicken tacos with poblano sauce. Ireland Baldwin reveals rape, abortion experience in Roe v. Wade reaction
Ireland Baldwin has revealed that she was raped as a teenager, and recounted her experience with abortion in light of the Supreme Court 's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade . The Supreme Court's conservative majority on Friday morning ended nearly five decades of precedent by overturning the judicial body's landmark 1973 decision, which had established a woman's constitutional right to an abortion. The decision could see abortion bans in roughly half of the states in the U.S. Thirteen states, mainly in the South and Midwest, already have laws on the books that ban abortion in the case of Roe being overturned. Soon after the ruling was publicly announced, a host of celebrities, Democrats and abortion rights activists expressed their outrage at the decision , while many others shared personal stories about their own experiences with abortion. Baldwin, 26, counted herself among those recounting deeply personal experiences on Sunday, when she shared a TikTok video in … [Read more...] about Ireland Baldwin reveals rape, abortion experience in Roe v. From great resignation to great rethink
OFF the back of Covid-19, the great resignation is here to stay – with CEOs ranking a labour and skills shortage as the number one external issue expected to influence or disrupt their business strategy in the next 12 months. Every nation and region faces different labour trends and challenges. Workers everywhere are interested in exploring alternatives, under differing circumstances. For Malaysia, 85% of companies are focusing on internal mobility versus external hiring, with a focus on soft skills, including problem solving, communication and strategic thinking skills. Recent research also suggests that women, non-white employees, and those in lower-wage jobs are the workers most likely to consider making job changes. Both Deloitte Global’s Women at Work study and more recently, our economics team study findings support this, indicating that globally, the pandemic had a disproportionate adverse effect on women. Whether driven by a wave of restlessness, fresh opportunities, or … [Read more...] about From great resignation to great rethink
Rana lawyers give brief defence; trial to see closing arguments
The defence for Tahawwur Rana, co-accused with David Headly in the 26/11 attacks, rested its case here after calling two witnesses but the Pakistani Canadian himself did not testify. At the hearing of the terror trial, the defence said employees at Rana’s Immigration offices in New York or Toronto did not remember working with Headley. The employees -- Rehana and Kashif Khan -- among others, take calls at the offices. The defence called in a computer forensic expert and an immigration attorney but Rana waived his right to testify. Closing arguments by the prosecution and defence are scheduled for Tuesday. Computer forensic expert Yaniv Schiff Moshe said he researched Rana’s computers from July 1, 2009 to October 15, 2009 and found that no search was conducted on them except on one computer for Jyllands Posten cultural editor Fleming Rose or Kurt Westergaard the cartoonist who drew the controversial cartoons of Prophet Muhammad. This one computer was used by Headley himself to … [Read more...] about Rana lawyers give brief defence; trial to see closing arguments
