It all started with a random tweet. Sitting at my laptop on a random July day, looking at random tweets scroll across my timeline, a random thought entered my head. And, because it felt like one of those random — and usually rare — times I had a good idea, I decided to share it. See, Sixers forward Mike Scott has a bit of a different NBA game day ritual, one that involves him wearing a hockey sweater into the arena every night. Over the years, the hockey sweater has become Scott's signature look, and he wears them more than just during his pregame walk from the parking lot to the locker room. After all, Scott has over 150 hockey jerseys, including more than 30 that he's never worn before. And soon, he's going to have to find room for a whole bunch more.Scott apparently liked my idea of him supporting local high school hockey clubs, and he shared my tweet with his followers. That's when the replies started rolling in. Dozens, then hundreds of fans flooded … [Read more...] about The Q&A … with Sixers forward (and cult hero) Mike Scott

The Sixers and Bucks played one of the most exciting early April NBA games in recent memory on Thursday night, but I'm sure that won't make anyone in Philadelphia feel better about their team coming out on the losing end. A wild night in South Philly ended in a 128-122 defeat for the Sixers, who still have some work to do to secure the East's No. 3 seed. Here's what I saw, with more to come later. The Good• The rest of the team may not be at their best with the playoffs approaching, but JJ Redick is back in a good place. His shooting success could not have come at a better time, with the team banged up and looking for any source of offensive reliability.Redick has certainly been that. What made his performance against Milwaukee especially impressive is that he was hitting shots despite getting a large share of the attention from their defense. The Bucks have made it quite clear they're willing to let Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have acres of space on the perimeter, but they hounded … [Read more...] about Instant observations: Sixers fall to Bucks in early April thriller
A date with the Golden State Warriors looms on Saturday night, and the Sixers are still not sharing much about Joel Embiid's availability. But the Sixers are in a good spot right now. At 6-2 since the Tobias Harris trade, they are quickly coming to an understanding on the floor, proving that they can get results even as they figure out their roles.Questions continue to linger about their chances against the top of the East, and whether or not Brett Brown is the guy who can ultimately deliver the Sixers a championship. But let the record show that the Sixers, in spite of major trades and experiments and all sorts of quirks, are 40-22 with 19 games left to play. They have a cupcake schedule in the final weeks of the season and appear on pace to win 50+ games for the second consecutive year, a feat they haven't accomplished since the mid-'80s.I just wanted to make that was noted before we get into some questions about the coach, their playoff chances, and some other less serious topics. … [Read more...] about Mailbag: Should the Sixers bring back their black jerseys?
Between Joel Embiid being ruled out for a week and Furkan Korkmaz tearing his meniscus, Philadelphia's return from the All-Star break was a somber one. There was but one ray of sunshine on a snowy Wednesday afternoon: the return of Sixers draftee Zhaire Smith, who edges closer to a full return for Philadelphia.Since the team's G-League affiliate has a game tonight, Smith spent the day with the big-boy club in order to get some practice time in. He will rejoin the Delaware Blue Coats on Thursday to continue his practice and rehab program and was only a partial participant in Sixers practice on Wednesday. This was as much about keeping him active as anything else. But it was still a nice boost for the team on an otherwise dreary day."He went through sort of a half practice, he ran around a little bit and competed," Brett Brown told reporters after Wednesday's practice. "It was great to see him, you're reminded of how athletic he is. He had a bounce today, it was just good to have him … [Read more...] about Sixers’ Zhaire Smith returns to practice, availability remains in doubt

I’m sure you know this by now, and you’ve probably spent more than a few minutes trying to process your feelings. On one hand, this is the Sixers showing they’re ready to compete for a championship. It’s everything The Process has been building towards. On the other hand, Saric and Covington were crucial parts and prime examples of what made The Process itself so fun. They were here for the darkest days, and now they're gone. It’s a hard one to digest, and basically everyone had takes and reactions.
