Vietnam has expanded its presence in United Nations peacekeeping activities with the appointment of three military officers to take on new missions in Africa. The officers – Lt. Col. Le Ngoc Son, Captain Dinh Duc Long, and Captain Ho Tien Hung – will be working as intelligence analyst, military observer and training officer in their upcoming duty in the Central African Republic. The three officers from the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center under the Ministry of National Defense received their official dispatch order on Friday from Col. Gen. Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of Staff of the People’s Army of Vietnam. The selected officers would join specialized training programs to prepare them for peacekeeping operations in the African country, Col. Hoang Kim Phung, head of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center, said in a press conference in February. People took to social media to complain about intermittent outages which left customers across Europe unable to send or receive emails. The exact cause of the problem remains unclear, as Microsoft continues to seek a solution. (@lexkypolice/Twitter) LEXINGTON, Ky. — Krispy Kreme has stepped in to comfort Kentucky police officers mourning the loss of a doughnut truck that caught fire. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the company and a police escort delivered dozens of doughnuts to the city police department Wednesday afternoon. Officer Kyle Mounce says no one was injured when a Krispy Kreme truck caught fire in the city on Monday, but the truck’s doughnuts were ruined. The fire’s cause was unclear as of Monday. Lexington police shared posts on social media of the burned truck and officers jokingly mourning the loss. The posts were widely shared online and police departments across the country offered their condolences. Residents living near Sunderland's Mowbray Road have spoken of their shock after part of the street was sealed off as three people were taken to hospital after a police dog van was hit by a car. A huge police presence and ambulance crews were dispatched to the street at 11.30am this morning following the incident. Three people, including a police officer, were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
