According to police in Salem, Oregon, a 52-year-old man attacked a restaurant employee who he 1) thought was a terrorist, 2) was enslaving a woman, 3) had an “evil totem” with Arabic writing. Jason Kendall was booked Tuesday on counts of felony assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and misdemeanor intimidation. Jail records obtained by Law Newz show that he remains at Marion County Correctional Facility as of Sunday, and is scheduled for a pretrial court date on March 17. A disbarred personal injury lawyer from Florida has been accused of participating in a scheme to sell stolen guns once owned by the family of executed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.Former Miami-area lawyer David Phillip Ryan, 48, was accused of conspiracy to transport stolen firearms, conspiracy to sell stolen property and unlawfully mailing firearms, report the Miami Herald and NJ.com. The new head of the army has a prized possession from his time with the SAS - a black studded cowboy belt that belonged to Saddam Hussein’s son. Lt Gen Mark Carleton-Smith regularly wore the belt, which had a big metal buckle and would have looked “incongruous on anyone outside Texas”, a former SAS colleague told the Daily Telegraph. Iraq Prime Minister Said to Oust Judge to Ensure Saddam Death Sentence
Fearing that Saddam Hussein would not receive a death sentence at his trial, Iraq’s prime minister forced one of five judges presiding in his case to resign only days before sentencing, a Canadian lawyer told the New York Times.According to the lawyer’s version of events, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki forced the judge, Munthur Hadi, off the panel in 2006.
